I was offered one a hour ago for a nice price. I believe it is stainless, could be brushed nickel. Two spare mags and a belt slide holster and a mag pouch are included. Any comments on the gun would be appreciated. I have owned a few Star PD pistols in the past and liked them.

Got 2 in 9mm.

Shot several in .40. Same size but a bit heavier. The all steel pistols weight soaks up the recoil pretty good. They were Pistol of the Year back around '89-'90 or so. They are excellent pistols. Interarms closed up after the death of the owner , and Star as well as Astra are out of the gun biz due to Spanish politics.

And yer right , it's electroless nickel , they called it Starvel.

Thank you for the reply. Would the one I mentioned be worth $300.00? It is in VGC. I noticed it was a hefty thing for it's size.

A gun of that quality is worth that kind of money. But Stars don't sell well. I got a 9mm version for $120 not long ago, and I wasn't the first to look at it.

I have a blue one in .40 S&W that I have owned since the mid-90s. I shot it a few times and IIRC the rear sight came loose. I haven't had it out in years.....I should find it and sell it.

Not a bad gun just nothing many people care about.

I could not help myself, I bought the Star today on the way home. $200.00 OTD. Cheaper than a Taurus .38 revolver, more power and faster to reload. If I don't like it I should have no trouble parting with it. Thanks for all the replies.

I have three of them a 9mm, .40 and 45 acp and love them big time. I think that they are one of the most under-rated handguns on the market today.
At $200 you stole that gun.

The one thing to keep an eye with a Star Firestar .40 Starvel finish is the extractor. The blued ones are fine but the Starvel finish seems to be a bit on the brittle side. The 9mm's and 45 in Starvel are.

Great gun.......you are going to REALLY like it. Magazines are easily obtained even here in Montana.

I bought one new I believe it was 1993 and that year it was the handgun of the year. Its a bit heavy for its size but it shoots very well and have had no problems with it.

I have owned a starvel stainless looking one in .45acp.

I liked it well enough...worked well with ball ammo...however it was somewhat picky about which hollowpoints it would feed.

I think it was an excellent pistol..although I didn't own it very long.

I had one in 9MM and also felt it was a highly "under-rated" handgun. Mine was loaded with 124 grain lead flatnose bullets with Bluedot and would easily group into 2 1/2 inches for 5 shots at 25 yards. Fed excellently.

I shot a .45 Auto version and the recoil was not that bad.

I sold mine and after it went through the hands of three friends I "found it" again but the cheap chisler (he's a good friend) won't sell it back to me.

I have heard that parts are scarce, so you might look for them and stock up.

I have had good luck with Stars including the Firestar in 40.

Only part I ever needed was an extractor for my .40 Starvel finish Firestar....apparently they were too brittle in the .40 Starvel finish...bought a blued one and have never had a problem since.
These are SO under-rated...........get one and see why!!!
