Anybody prefer magnas on a J frame?

Hand size and a comfortable grip are different for everyone. I've found the factory Magnas that (used to?) come on J-frame guns work fine as is, but it takes an adjustment period with shooting practice.

To use larger stocks negates, in varying degrees, the concealability factor of the S&W wood stocks. I like the looks of Tyler T-grips, but they're for looks only, at least for me. The cosmetic appeal does nothing in terms of being able to better hold the revolver.

I don't care for the Magna grips on my J-frames, so....

I have a set of magnas with a Tyler-T on my 60-7 identical to ImDrRichard's model 60 pictured in post #2 above. I actually prefer this setup to the rubber UncleMike three-finger grips that came with the gun.

Magnas with a Tyler works best for my hands. For a bit of stickiness, I wrap them with Vet tape.

I sweat more than most unfortunately... Can you throw a pic or two of your set-up with the Vet Tape? Is it like Sports tape we'd tape our ankles and wrists up with to play baseball/football etc???

It seems like it would give you more room for your your fingers. Since everyone complains about not being able to get their pinky on there. But then I guess it gives you less real estate on the sides to get a good grip. I am thinking about trying a set out, just to see what I think. I'd probably have to wrap some rubber bands around them to give them some stickiness......

Check out my screen name... If I can get my pinky on there, you can too...

Are magnas wider than boot grips? Maybe some versions of them?

Anybody want to trade me some magnas for my Pachmyr? It's brand new. I had it on mine for a little while but don't really like it.

We all have those pachymars in shoe box based off some post that said they were the perfect grips. Within an hour we were all looking at the altamont website.

I have a Tyler grip coming for this little guy. It will be getting some polishing done internally and some springs as well. Should make a fine "grab it on the way out the door" gun.

hehehehehe.

I do think there are a few guys that like them though. I like the way they feel. But they're kind of bulky for AIWB even and too tacky. And for some reason I didn't shoot well with them on, at all. I wasn't sure if it was a bad day or what. I thought about giving them another try but they don't work for pocket carrying anyways... Which I do sometimes at church.

I had my stock / grips off my 442 last night and I really think I'd like some magnas without a tyler on there. Possibly......

Could anyone confirm or deny if magnas are wider than the current factory rubber boot grips? I might spring for the factory versions, but I think older ones might have a different profile. So I have to decide if I wanna find some used ones or not.

I have a lot of rubber J Frame grips stored in a box. Pachs, Uncle Mikes, yada yada, they were all failed experiments. I ought to sell them and get another pair of "Executioners".

If you feel led, post a pic up when you have the Magnas on it.

And yeah, I get the tyler T grip thing. I have one on my Colt DS and it makes it WAAAAY better. But what I'm getting at is if you leave one off on a J frame, wouldn't it be more likely to get your pinky on the stocks because it's a bit higher up in the frame. If you could somehow close the gap from the rear of the trigger guard to your middle finger, so it's not slapping it, that would be a bonus but a T grip brings your whole grip lower some. Hence the desire to try some rubber bands.

Just waiting on the T-Grip from Bryan now

Model 60-no dash has magnas plus a "BK" grip adapter as I use it for a "Backup". Accuracy is fine at 7 yards, but "Iffy" at 15 yards and a shotgun pattern at 25 yards. However the "J" frame is a short range "get off me" weapon. Appling larger grips improves accuracy, but not as concealable.
