Anybody still using Bullseye? Here it is.

I use it in 45acp sometimes . 5.0 grs under a 230gr cast bullet . It's an old load but still a good one . When I want a little more power , I use either IMR 7625 (now discontinued ) or Ramshot True Blue .
I have always kept about 5#'s of Bullseye on hand , even through this last powder shortage . Years ago I used it almost exclusively in 38spl loads .

I picked up a big jug of it several years back, before it became basically unavailable. It's great for 38sp and 45acp. It also takes a long time to use a jug a 3-5 grains per round!

I have 3 1# bullseye and 4 1# W231. I love bullseye and it works very well in all my equipment and loads. I might have to get one. Thanks for the heads/up

Thank you for the heads up. I have been looking for BE for quite some time.

I've got 3 pounds bought locally, plus whatever's left in my first. At 2.8-gr for a 158-gr .38, and 4.0-gr for a 230-gr .45, I've got enough for my next 6,000 rounds.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I'm just getting into reloading and I've talked to a lot of people who have recommended Bullseye as the best power (38sp loads is my primary). I was trying to figure out an alternative because I just couldn't find this stuff. Got 8# ordered and just got the email it's already shipped....so now it's time to get those bullets loaded!!

38 special is also my fave. Where'd you find the Bullseye?

Hodgdon Titegroup is a fast powder similar to Alliant Bullseye.
Care must be used with both (and ALL powders) to avoid double or triple charging hand gun cases.

I picked up two of the one pound bottles in the last month. One was from Sportsman Warehouse, and the other was from Scheels or Cabelas.

Since the shortages I have grown to like Red Dot and Titegroup. But I still have and use BE.

Red Dot has developed quite a following since '09-ish or so. Lots of guys on another board I frequent love the stuff.

I went ahead & ordered 8# of BE simply because the grabbers are coming after our ammo hard & heavy this year and reloaders are on their radar and also Green Dot is bulkier & is starting to get compressed in 9mm target loads.

Fishslayer:

I first posted this on a thread about Unique powder a few months ago:

"Thanks, OldChief!!! I thought I was the only one still using Bullseye. It's only been around for what? 118+ years? Came out in 1898, just before I was born!!! (I'm kidding, I'm not quite that old!) I still like it for many loads. In fact I read an article by if I remember correctly, Patrick Sweeney, in "Handguns" magazine, where he uses BE for a bunch of calibers and loads.

I'm not going to list any of them here, but check the story (just found the magazine) in the February/March 2015 issue. P14, "Bullseye Magic"

I know that if I'm loading say .32 S&W Long, with 2.0 gr of BE, I can get 3,500 rounds out of a pound of powder!!! If I'm loading 38 Spls with 148 gr bullets and 3.5 gr of BE, that's 2,000 rounds per pound!!! Not bad. Although you have to be really careful about double or even triple charges, because a little goes a long way.

I may be old fashioned, but I have been using BE since 1970, and although I use other powders (and Unique is one of them), it is still my go to powder!!!"

Thought I'd resurrect it on this thread. I am a big fan of BE!!!

Best Regards, Les
