Anybody watch this box on EBAY?

This makes me think that someone with the ability to order some red carboard boxes from China at .50 cents each is right now calculating the profit for ordering 100 "imitations" to be sold on Ebay at $100 a piece.....most of us would be happy with a reasonable facsimile anyway IMO.

I just purchased yesterday a red box in decent shape with the Stone Mint 1st variation Outdoorsman still in it, for less than that ebay box alone went for! Having said that, I was extremely lucky on finding this one!

One of the oldest gun shops around here closed 10 years ago after 70 years in business. Before they closed I talked to a counter guy who had worked there 40 years. He told me around 1970 he and the manager cleaned out the back-back room and thru out 40 or so old Smith red and purple boxes that the owner had collected before he died.

I died as well.........THAT'S what happened to them all. He said customers would buy a gun, take it out of the box and tell them to throw the box away.-dan

OH. MY. GOD. .....WOW

Bluing

I do my own prep work and either send it to Turnbulls or do it myself. Below my .44-40 Frontier, was lightly pitted, I did using Belgian Blue. Cheap to do and only requires the chemical stuff and boiling water plus a few hours work. Turnbulls runs into money.

This one, with a little worse pitting, before & after my prep, is a Turnbull job and about $480 to replace lettering & blue.
