Anyone else notice the NPSC is back in MS?

Could be....

Didn't that range get flooded one year in a storm?

I never had the opportunity to shoot at the MHP range in a match, as they had moved to Des Moines by the time I started (85), so I can't confirm. We had matches in Des Moines that were so rainy that shooters' boxes were floating away at the 50 yard line, and each shot produced a big spray in prone - that was the year a teammate won it. Later matches at Jackson, MS PD got slammed by a hurricane, which wasn't much fun, but in all these cases, we muddled through.

I'm guessing that in arid New Mexico that was not a problem, but 110 degree heat was.

I have shot the MHP range in Pearl, on several occasions. If the weather cooperates, it will be a great match.

Well Im sure Im not the only one glad to see it return to MS. The Pearl range is a nice facility, easy to shoot with the green ground cover. Hope they have a Regional , that was always the best run match,. Each place can have issues, Des moines, rain or snow, Albq, terrible light no matter what, and some pretty bad wind with dust.
But in MS shooters always got treated pretty good, better people working the line, smoother operation which makes shooting way more fun. Im going back, gonna have to do some practice not to embarrass myself, but looking forward that it could be like a reunion. We will see.

Hi Bob,
Yes, going back to MS is a good move for the NPSC. I am planning on going this year, should be fun. I just wish they would get better people running the NRA side of the competition. Have to decide if I want to shoot iron sights or optics for the 1500 matches. Come to Raton in July for a good warm-up. Hope to see you in MS.

Hey Al , nice to hear from you. I have spent the last couple years since retiring, going back and forth, with Lisa's moms house, then our house in TX, back to LA to finish moving when Lisa retired, and just last Dec we finally got around to selling the house in Norco. SO I haven't fired a gun, except to shoot a skunk , coyote or armadillo since 2016. So Ive got some months to look at the rule changes and figure out the events. Kinda gets me going again, and Im sure we wont be the only two looking to visit.
Hope all is well ,with you and yours Talk more later. Bob Will keep Raton on my mind, thanks

Is it open to International competitors (retired Police Officers)?

Over here, we have the Australian Police & Services Match held each year.

Yes it is

Yes, the NRA Rule book linked below (scroll down some), under Rule 2.3, allows non-U.S. Competitors; Rule 2.4 (5) speaks to retired officers. Unless a specific match precludes them, you are good to go. Shooters from Germany come all the time, if I recall. If you look up the results for 2018 (I know, a lot of clicking through links), you'll see the results for the non-U.S. in the various matches. You can always e-mail the NRA for full details.

I see the date for 2019 but I guess I’m not looking in the right place for the new location:confused: I missed last year because I was relocating from NM to OK so now at least I’m closer to MS:D

Here it is

The link where I stumbled across the dates is here:

NRA Explore | National Police Shooting Championship

Jackson was originally listed as the site, but they may have forgotten to put it in when they updated and added more details.

Also, was copied on an e-mail from a NRA Board member LEO (who I believe is retired), where it was confirmed. It's supposed to be a 5 year contract, but I'll have to check my work e-mail.
