Anyone else on a gun buying moratorium ?

Haven't bought anything in about 8 months. Enjoying what I have and nothing interests me. Into my 5th year of retirement and we are reworking finances. Between travelling, golf, fly fishing, shooting, and grandkids I have to choose carefully how I spend!

Every time I think I've depleted my want list, something new comes along out of the blue. Three weeks ago it was a LNIB 6946 for $320.00 OTD. Couldn't pass it up.

I have been selling some off here and there and have a few long guns that I'm on the verge of selling.

I think that's just the way it is.

In the last 4 years I have transferred (yeah, you gotta do that with East California) 9 guns to my son in Colorado. Told myself I ain't buying anything else this lifetime. Then the Egyptian lady at the O Show says "Kahr P9, new for $220 OTD. Many as you want." I bought one, shoulda bought them all. A couple months back a shooting buddy had a 642-1 he didn't want after buying one of the new "micro" .380's from Springfield Armory. I says "how much" he says "$250" I says "lets stop at the bank." I need another 642 like I need any other gun. Going down to the Lakeland show tomorrow, let you know how it turns out. Joe

Nope not a chance, I've bought a 27-2 3 1/2 inch and a 19-3 nickel 2 1/2 inch in the last month and a half. If the bank account runs low or the Mrs. catches me I might back off for awhile.....:D

It's been about six months, a record in the last 20 years. Just not seeing any that really excite me. But I'm always looking.

I fully started out this year saying the 2 model 28s I won off GB late last December would do me for this year didn't last too long. March I decided I wanted a custom 1911, which was ready in late April. Then the wants hit me for a model 25 so I could have a revolver to shoot 45 ACP in also and 1 of those beckoned at GB. Then in early August I went over to my LGS to pay for my next year's range fees for the range I belong to and made the mistake of looking in the case and saw a really nice .40 S&W BHP at a decent price, which followed me home. Now, I say I will not buy another gun for the rest of the year. Maybe I will have the willpower to follow this. I really have enough as it is.

I've found too many "grail guns" this year. Models 60, 38, and 36. But I'm trying to limit myself to a total 20 inventory. Sold one today to a work bud to make room in the "20", for a pre-10 .38, built about when I was born. Going to ask Roy for a letter as soon as I have my hands on it, probably next Thursday. Last one for a while...

I ran afoul of a Democratic appointee / department commissioner who apparently didn't view me as a team player when I told him the things he wanted me to direct my agency to do violated federal law.

He's now looking for a new director who's a yes man, with either very little knowledge or poor ethics. And I'm on a gun buying moratorium until I find another job.

I did a gun show last weekend and didn't buy even one gun. Traded for a couple... but did buy an Armalite AR-10 on Monday after the show from a fellow that needed a little money. He had never fired it. Paid a bit much but I have found a whole lot of military ammo around here. I would like to find a M-25 in 45 ACP for some odd reason
