Anyone else on a gun buying moratorium ?

Self imposed for a couple years while I saved for a new truck. Stayed the course pretty good, but have since fell off the wagon pretty hard. Seven rather expensive new purchases in the last year. Its a "sickness" I tell you....:)

I was trying to be serious and enjoy what I have for awhile....made it two whole months till yesterday:eek:

First purchase since the Alabama CC license is no longer sufficient for a back ground check. Kinda surprised how smooth and quick it went.

I've been selling off a few things. I know that's a horrible thing to say, but my health is on a dramatic decline (I've failed all FDA accepted treatments, and am now in clinical trials for an experimental genetic treatment).

Anything I buy at this point will be classic revolver / bolt action rifle. Don't need or want more things to clean those few days I do get to the range.

Sort of. I haven't bought anything in a while. I don't go looking for them but sometimes things are forced upon you. A fellow member at the range saw me shooting my Model 66 and inquired if I would be interested in a Model 14. Why, yes, I would. Wasn't my fault.

There's a couple I'd like to have but I have more than I can shoot at the moment. If it never happens that would be O.K.

I've only bought a Ruger Bearcat, S&W Mod 10, and a Taurus Mod 66 in the last two months so yea.

I am done.! I moved from California to a free state. The novelty of buying with out a waiting period, or ordering from the internet and picking it up from my gunsmith , has worn off.
Not even the interesting stuff and low prices at AIM surplus tempt me anymore. I have had the problem for a long time, when CMP allowed more than one M1 I went nuts.I have enough for a rifle squad. Years ago when Big 5 had Swede M 96 mausers for $79 I bought all they had. Marlin levermatics in all 4 calibers,, i got them. 22 Hornets and 25-20s, I dont know how many. Anything interesting and inexpensive was making it iinto my gun safe . Safes actually. What finally did it was a Zestava M70 in 32 acp i got for a bargin . Interesting and fun, but serious moment of contemplation,, why ?
All i ever shoot is a Mossberg 500, a M&P 15, cheap plastic stock.bolt rifles in 223 and 30-06 a 10/22 and a Glock. All the rest of it just sits, waiting to be inherited .

For the last 4 to 5 years, I haven't been fasting but on a very strong diet. I bought 4 S&W's, a Ruger and an AR-10! Over the last 6 years I sold off 41, so my loss is at 31. My belly has become smaller.

Question: Buying just an upper and T/C barrels don't count as guns do they. I told SWMBO, they didn't. She almost acted like they didn't!

I guess you could call it a moratorium ..... but it's more like I already have most of the guns that interest me and I've become very selective in what additional ones I buy.

My safe is pretty full at present, but there are a couple of guns that I should sell or trade to make room for something else (if it is something that I have interest in).:) I did recently buy a Remington 20 gauge Wingmaster.....was just too good of a deal to pass up.

Haven't bought anything in about 8 months. Enjoying what I have and nothing interests me. Into my 5th year of retirement and we are reworking finances. Between travelling, golf, fly fishing, shooting, and grandkids I have to choose carefully how I spend!

Every time I think I've depleted my want list, something new comes along out of the blue. Three weeks ago it was a LNIB 6946 for $320.00 OTD. Couldn't pass it up.

I have been selling some off here and there and have a few long guns that I'm on the verge of selling.

I think that's just the way it is.

In the last 4 years I have transferred (yeah, you gotta do that with East California) 9 guns to my son in Colorado. Told myself I ain't buying anything else this lifetime. Then the Egyptian lady at the O Show says "Kahr P9, new for $220 OTD. Many as you want." I bought one, shoulda bought them all. A couple months back a shooting buddy had a 642-1 he didn't want after buying one of the new "micro" .380's from Springfield Armory. I says "how much" he says "$250" I says "lets stop at the bank." I need another 642 like I need any other gun. Going down to the Lakeland show tomorrow, let you know how it turns out. Joe

Nope not a chance, I've bought a 27-2 3 1/2 inch and a 19-3 nickel 2 1/2 inch in the last month and a half. If the bank account runs low or the Mrs. catches me I might back off for awhile.....:D

It's been about six months, a record in the last 20 years. Just not seeing any that really excite me. But I'm always looking.
