Anyone else think: "I should have got a 9 mm instead?"

Mistake?

I own several pistols, rifles, and shotguns. .380,9mm,10mm,.40sw,.45acp,.38spc.,.357mag,.44mag., .45colt.,.22lr,.22mag. these are my pistol calibers, rifle and shotgun calibers are similar in variety. All are different to shoot, all are fun to shoot! The .40SW is by far the most challenging. It shows any and all flaws in trigger control, flinching, and site picture. Still I enjoy shooting it and all my other calibers.

Yes 9MM for plinking, .45ACP for defense and 10MM for hunting. .40 is just a wimpy 10MM that should never have seen the light of day.

It's all down to the fear of the Metric System

I bought the 40 mainly out of curiosity. Buds had some police trade ins with 3 mags that were a pretty good deal.

I ran quite a bit of ammo through it and liked it. So naturally I would take my M&P 9s to compare which I could shoot better and as expected I could put more 9s on target quicker than with the 40.

So, I bought a Storm Lake conversion barrel and now this is my best shooting gun (that I am most accurate with). Now I basically have two guns and will just substitute the 40 barrel when I want to shoot that caliber.

In conclusion, I didn't find the 40 too snappy at all. Comfortable shooting it, just shoot the 9 better. ;)

edit: I'll add that based on current ammo selection, I just don't see any advantage in the 40 for my needs. My main criteria for caliber selection is keeping on target quickly as possible with effective ammo.
