I was recently diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI). I had never heard of it, but it is when your pancreas quits excreting enzymes to digest your food so you have to take medication every time you eat something to digest your food. I am on Creon, which is super expensive and has done little to help. The doctors have no explanation for it but says it happens sometimes. Usually it is pancreatic cancer, damage to the pancreas or Cystic Fibrosis but tests showed none of those. I have had IBS for about 2 years and was under control but then started having frequent diarrhea which led to the stool test that discovered it. Just wondering if anyone else had any experience with it and, if so, would appreciate any input you may have on it.
Thanks,Jack

Have you been checked for gluten or dairy intolerance?
My wife has had IBS problems for years and doing MUCH better after avoiding gluten and dairy. She does use some sort of OTC enzyme tablets if she is unsure of the food content.

enzymes

I have had IBS for a couple of years before this happened. Took a capful of miralax every day was fine and this came along. What otc enzymes does she use? Haven't been checked for gluten but never had a problem with it, but do drink lactose free milk. Thanks!

She gets hers from where she goes for PT, in CT. Look up "dairy and gluten digestive enzymes" on amazon, there are several types. I don't know if one type is better than another.
