The LCPII has been out for about a year and I’m considering one to replace my Taurus TCP. What I wanted to know is who out there has any experience w/this and how reliable it is. My Taurus runs perfectly but the long trigger is very suspectable to short stroking, something I recently experienced at the range.

I’ve had one for quite a while now. For me, it’s a little easier to shoot than the other pocket .380s I’ve carried (Keltec, LCP1, S&W bodyguard, even the Kahr CW380 which I was very pleased with... NOT my wife’s P238 but that’s a very different breed). I haven’t had any issues with it but I should mention I have not put that many rounds through.... about 600.

It’s my at work carry and hangs out in a pocket holster all day, usually in my back pocket. It does have an opening by the hammer which gathers lint, so I blow that out every night and give it a quick clean on weekends.

It’s a little fatter in the grip than the others, but it still pockets well.

I like the trigger. You have some take up, a wall, then a pretty good break. I difinitely prefer it over the LCP but wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s great.

Honestly, I’ve never been in love with any of the pocket .380s, but I’m satisfied with this one for now. If I were to switch back to one of the others it would definitely be the Kahr.

I hear most people have had no problems with it.

My brother has the original LCP and no issues.

He then bought an LCP2 my brother has however has been nothing but problems. Has to go back to factory 2nd time and he has zero confidence in it. Double feeds at random with many and all different ammo brands and multiple different mags.

I wound up getting a Gen 2 (not an LCPII) LCP and have put 200 trouble free rounds of FMJ & HP through it. I did get the Hogue rubber grip sleeve but cannot get the butt plug off the LCP to get the grip sleeve started. The little pin seems to be stuck. Any ideas?

If you're talking about the pin that holds the grip plug in, push harder - no sarcasm or humor intended. You may break the plastic on the grip plug. I’ve done four of them. On two, the plastic broke. On two it didn’t. It’s a cheaply built plastic part. (ETA - if you're using the Hogue grip with the beaver tail and pin through the back of the frame, you don't reinstall the grip plug. The plug “pin" is like a little lever/pin molded into the plug. Breaks easy.)

Got a LCP II just after Christmas and very happy with it. I think it's got some good improvements over the original. The trigger is much improved with little take up and a nice break. Really lets you make better precision shots... not that this is a target gun, but it is pretty damn accurate for such tiny pistol. The grip is wider and fills your hand better and it has somewhat functional sights on it. A dab of white nail polish on the front helped. Oh, over 200 flawless rounds of different ball and hollow point ammo so far.
Still have my original LCP. It's been 100% also with many rounds over the years. Intended to give it to my son, but I'm having trouble letting go!

I currently have an LCP II. So far 100% reliable and good accuracy. I have owned in the past, an original LCP, a 2nd generation LCP, an LCP custom, a keltek, a Kahr, a Sig P238, and a Remington RM380. The LCP II is the best of the bunch.

I’ve carried an LCP for 8 years now I want to retire it but so far I can’t decide between a G42 or LCP II.

The only reason I didn’t automatically go with Elsie was the early reports of issues, so I’m happy to hear more positive feedback because it really is the more practical gun for me.

Many thanks to Ziggy2525 - I gave the grip plug another wack w/a better punch and it popped right out. The Hogue slid right on but I had to use the existing rear pin b/c the one supplied by Hogue was bent. I’m going to call them and ask for a replacement even though the original pin works fine for the time being.

I've carried the LCPII for about 6 months or so when I need something small. No malfunctions yet. Easy to shoot for a small gun and loads better than the original LCP. The trigger is pretty good as well in my estimation.

I’m glad it worked out for you. I wanted to clarify something in case someone with the same issue comes across the posts using an internet search.

In my post when I said “push harder,” pushing harder means applying steady pressure, by hand, just with more force. When you say “another whack,” it sounds like you’re hitting the punch using an impact tool like a hammer and hitting it harder. I’m glad “whacking” worked out for you, but whacking an lcp harder has the potential to break more than the grip plug.

Anyway, I think you’ll enjoy the grip sleve. It makes shooting the lcp way more pleasant.
