Well I have got to a point in my life where I have decided to go to one platform for my carry guns.
I am in my 50's and have been carrying full time since 1981.
After carrying about every brand and every kind of gun I have decided on only carrying double action revolvers.
My three carry guns are all J frame S&W's.
Two are 38's and one in 357 Magnum.
I will keep most of my shooting practice to these three guns and thank God that I reload 38's and 357 mags.
So to the point of my post.
Is there any one else here that have gone to only carrying revolvers?
It might seem backwards to some people but I feel real safe when I have my revolvers on me and I know that they are going to go bang when I pull the trigger.

The only thing not perfect about a revolver is only 5 or 6 rounds. Shot placement is more important than rounds fired. Therefore there is nothing backwards about carrying a revolver. J frame smiths are very straight shooters. I like em!!!
I carry both as the mood suits me. Never feel under-armed with either. Although when I think about my .380, I may be under carrying with that one.

I always carry a S&W M64 for concealment in a 2 inch barrel[heavy]. Been carrying that for over 30 years and not one problem. Sometimes,my 3 or 4 inch security duty m64s I carry in a inpant holsters.

I too have gone back to all revolver for concealed carry.

Been carrying since the mid 1980s, been full circle now: started with a Ruger Speed Six snub, then went on a 20 year tear of high-speed-low-drag semiauto pistols.

The only handguns I currently own are revolvers!

For carry: S&W 66-4 snub
S&W 442-1
Ruger SP101 snub

I fired a 9MM SA when I got my permit, but I only carry revolvers. Normally I carry two, a CA 44 Bulldog 2 and 1/2 in barrel, and a S&W 38 Special, stainless steel air weight. I carry speed loaders with them and I figure with two of them I have 10 rounds. That is not as many rounds as a SA has.

I don't like the idea of ever having to clear a malfunction is my reason
and I think I am less likely to have an accidental discharge with a simple revolver. I won't say for sure I will never buy a SA but I am a lot more likely to buy another revolver than the SA. I only own four revolvers.

Yes, it's the easiest thing for me to operate. However, I have flirted with an XDS and a Colt Pocketlite, and if I could just get Hubby to take me to the range I might consider other options. But for now it's the 327 Nightguard.

After 50+ years and seeing countless rounds of factory ammo go through stock semiautos (mostly Glocks and SIGs, but others as well) the only semiautos I have much faith in are good 1911s and BHPs. And I have seen even those choke on very rare occasions. OTOH a good DA revolver (S&W or Ruger) with any care at all will run reliably for a lifetime. Maybe two lifetimes.

They're right up there with a good crescent wrench. I don't care what the hell the Internet chatter says.

When I was researching for a concealed carry gun, I had certain parameters in mind. It had to be dependable, small enough for a pocket, in a caliber used by either the military or police and lots of fun to shoot at the range. It came down to either a 442 or a 642. It just happened that someone at work had a used 442 that they shot once, cleaned and put in a drawer.
I bought it from them, did a detail clean and while I had it apart, did a trigger job with a spring change, got some Pachmayr compact grips and a Laserlyte side mounted laser.
I made a few holsters and now it's my constant companion, either in my pocket or riding on my right hip loaded with 110 grain Federal Hydra-shoks, with a couple of loaded quick strips in my left front pocket.

The only pistol I've ever owned (and I've owned quite a few, some I liked a lot) that never, ever failed was a second-generation Glock G22 which I had to sell for financial reasons. But I went back to nothing but revolvers about fourteen years ago. Down to only two now, a 640 no-dash that's been my EDC for going on thirteen years, and a four-inch 10-5 for HD. The only time I ever knew a revolver to fail to fire it was an ancient .22 break-top we found loaded in a trunk when my first wife's grandmother died. The nasty, corroded cartridges had probably been in it for at least forty years; and at that, only two rounds failed to pop. With good ammo it was fine. Never seen a failure of any kind in a revolver since.

For more than two decades, I've never carried anything but revolvers ... it's just a matter of which revolver. The majority of time now I go with various J-frames, but I will rotate a 242, 696, and 66 or 686 snubbie into the mix.

If I were to carry a semi, the only two I would consider are a Colt New Agent or Springfield XDs, both in .45ACP.

As a rookie in 1968 I learned to shoot w/a revolver and have been carrying one ever since. During my career I had to use my revolver (.38 +P) in the line of duty and it did the job. I recently went back to carrying my Colt Cobra in a pocket holster.

If you want the full story on small carry revolvers get Stephen Camp's book on the J Frame S&W (I forgot the title but a search will find it).

Revolvers

Started as a rookie on a big metro force in 73 with a 6" Smith 38 spl and RN lead bullets.......carried revolvers as a duty gun ( 357 mag, 41 mag, 44 mag) until 88, then trans to the pistol.....have carried, instructed, and worked on all the major brands of auto's.....until my retirement in 08 and still do as a contract instructor.....my EDC is a M-65 3" RB stoked with 125gr. JHP's.....in the colder weather I carry a S&W M-24 3" RB or a M-58 41 mag.....and when I don't want to carry a gun....I carry a M-49 38 spl...I have a bunch of pistols in a bunch of calibers and I carry them occasionally, but I just feel comfortable with the ole wheel gun.

Started with a 36, then a 37, then a 38, then a 49, then a 640 (38), then a 442, then a 340PD and guess what?
I came back to the 640.
Although I hear voices calling from my 351C.

OP, I'm roughly your age and find myself gravitating back to my j frames. I still do carry a 9mm Shield (great pistol btw) most of the time but more and more go to my little snubbie. Below is a pic of my first CCW (model 60 no dash)I bought as a snot nose cadet at the academy back in 1985. Since then, I carried it as an off-duty and back-up weapon. She's a beauty. I also have a 640, 642, 342Ti, and a Ruger SP101 but the model 60 is special.
