Anyone like 649-3 camelback?

I'm thinking of getting rid of my 649-3 for a lighter model. I'm not getting any love here in Lv for my camel back model.

Is it just too heavy for concealed carry, pocket carry? I have a model 638 which is the same gun only with aluminum frame and 38+p instead of 357. I've only taken it out shooting a couple of times but I really like it. I would think that the heavier m649 would shoot even better. I had considered the 649 but just didn't have the extra cash.

bigfoot, I've got a 649 no dash that I am quite fond of, but its a 38 Spl and not a 357. Maybe it's not the prettiest of the J frames, but "pretty is as pretty does". If I didn't really, really, really need the money, or decided that a J frame 357 was not a good fit for my handgun needs, then I would keep it. All pre-lock stainless J frames are on my shopping list, no matter the dash or caliber.

I'm in the market for a 649 (.38 spl), just to keep my no-dash 640 and no-dash 60 company. Not a -3, though, I prefer the older variations.

I have a 442 and Ruger Lcr. And 649-3 sits in safe. It's a bit heavy compared to 442. But I thinking about getting rid of it for sometime now.

I have a no dash comemorative and traded my dash 3 in 38 special.
they made dash 3's in both 357 as well as 38 sp.

At one time had a humpback in each flavour.
They are the best gun for pocket concealment,

Holsters are tough because traditional snap down M36 / 60 style J holsters dont lock them in.

I actually really like 'em! Have a cool look to them, different yes but that's what makes 'em unique. I kicked around the idea of replacing my LCR with one.

I have a 649 no dash .38 special, which I purchased in 1988 after I got my CCW license.
I carried it for many years until switching over to an AMT .45 Backup for most every day carry.
I also have a 640 no dash .38 special which I have never carried along with my 442, 36, and 60.
I still sometimes carry the 649. I like the feel of a steel gun over aluminum, like the 442, and
the versatility of being able to fire it single action.
The 649 is only J Frame I carry.

I've got an early vintage no dash 649 that is one of my favorite carry guns. They are very unique design.

Mine was a police trade in. Had some honest carry marks but was tight as the day it left the factory. The insides were pristine. I started with some 400 grit sand paper, followed by 600, 800 and 1000 grit. Dings were worked out by hand. Next came the Mother's Mag Polish. A couple of hours while watching TV gave me a great finish. I've used Mother's in the past on stainless guns ~ when I get time I am going to put a "high shine" finish on it. I think hand polishing with Mother's gives a finish that is better than factory nickel.

Personally, I like the .38 over the .357 in a 2 inch J Frame. Just personal preference.

All of my J-Frames are Bodyguards.

Including my 649. Never give that one up.
