I bought my very first Colt Combat Commander in 1994. I was a 70 series in Satin Nickel. It had the original smooth walnut stocks. I was in love, but it was short lived. As a broke young man, I had some serious difficulties of a mechanical nature and found that I needed to trade it for a more reliable ride.
I really missed that old Colt. It wasn't very long before I had another, a stainless steel 80 series. It was nice, and it worked, but it was not the same as that satin nickel one....
Later I managed to scrounge up an Enhanced Colt Commander. I traded it to my dad, but soon got it back. It became my EDC carry and quickly found itself with and Ed Brown bobtail job. It has ridden many miles with me now.
I have found myself drawn to the Commander series of guns. I recently picked up another Colt. It is an early production Lightweight Commander. Other than the grip safety, it is a very fine piece. I like the retro look and feel that it has.
Here are a few photos of my current Commander stable.
