Anyone like Stag and Jigged bone?

I do like stag grips. A sample of Grasshorns on my 66-no dash.

I found a pair in a gun store while I was in California, they seemed a little too nice to pass up and after a very small amount of fitting work they went on beautifully.

I've come to a conclusion that not all stags are created equal, and each set can be pretty, or not. I am pretty happy with this particular set.

Anyone have any stags on their old hand ejectors?

They look like the ones on my old '55 Pre-36, except mine have darkened with age and are held together on the revolver with a Chicago screw, which I think is kind of unusual. Do you know who made yours? Wish I knew who made mine.

Bone Grips

These grips are not stag, and are of a material that is a bit rare in and of itself. It is fossil bone (2500 years old +) found around Fairbanks Alaska. The color comes from the soil minerals during the fossilization process. A lot of time the fossil bone is too brittle to cut and it crumbles. These pieces were cut and shaped by Patrick Grashorn and are very hard. The material turned out to be perfect for the task. They grace a pair of M28 Hwy Patrolman 357s.

This is a Model 17 That I purchased many years ago. Can anybody tell what type of stag or horn this is ? The quality and fit is very good.

Did I just buy these from you?

Because I love them.

Man I completely missed this question when you posted it.

No, I have no clue who made them. They were just in a drawer behind the counter in an old gun shop that the proprietor pulled out when I shared my love of old grips with him.

Lobo, I'm delighted to see your Baby Chief w/ stags. Why? I just completed a deal with "worldtraveler" who posted the pix below of a pair he inherited. We tentatively identified them as being for the I-frame/ Baby Chief and I have purchased them from him (they are now in transit.) The second picture shows them on a SB J-frame, so they are a little shorter than the J takes, making them pretty likely for the earlier guns.

Seeing yours make me more sure than ever that they will be a handsome addition to my BC, also a flat latch with serrated ramp front sight. I'm also thinking of having a recreation of the old King "Super -Police" style sights made for it. I'll try to post pix of the stag grips on my Baby when they arrive.
