Anyone not prefer mountain guns?

I don’t think the few ounces of weight make it easier to pack OR harder to shoot. I’d like to have one because I’m a 44mag fan and I think they are beautiful guns. The guy’s complaining about extra recoil probably shouldn’t shoot any 44 mags.

Yes. I prefer the classic appearance of the standard Smith & Wesson revolvers like the models 19, 66, 27, 686 and others. I prefer my 617 over the Mountain Gun version, especially for that kind of money. I know it won't shoot any better than my 617.

Back in the 80s I got to hankering for a lighter 25-5 so I bought an unfired S&W 28. I had a 3 3/4 inch 1950 target barrel someone gave me so I took the 28 Cylinder and chambered it for .45 Colt and fitted them to the M-28 frame. Of course the 28 had a shorter cylinder so it is more like a 25-3. Annoyingly you can't load a 255 gr. true Keith bullet in the short cylinder but the commonly available 250 commercailly cast bullets fit and they have a big enough meplat.

Later I fitted a used Model 27 cylinder I bought for $50 and chambered it for .45 Auto rim (mind you this cylinder is too long in the back to allow the use of moon clips but I have plenty of other revolvers which take those.

Sadly I don't have a pic and currenlty the gun is back in .357 with an 8 3/8" barrel (it changes back and forth fairly easily) but since 2005 I've had a Mtn gun in .45 Colt (pre-lock).

I like em all, Mtn guns and standard. My favorites seem to be 3" and 5".

Of all the revolvers my favorite chamberings are .45 Auto Rim and .44 Spl., not that I don't like .45 Colt.

That was a neat gun. Easily shortened .45 Colt or these days factory .45 Smith and Wesson cases would have solved that problem.
