I have owned three S&W 422 pistols

All of mine were 4.5" barrel models. Two of them had fixed sights and plastic stocks, the last one had adjustable sights and wood stocks. Other than the finish being fragile, these are a fine gun. I still have two 622's and a 2206, all 4.5" barrel, FS guns.

Here is my last one...it never saw the inside of a holster.

They sell for around $400.00 here in Canada, My local gunstore has one at that price in nice shape with the 6" barrel on it and the wood stocks.

You just hadn't stumbled into the right place yet.

Welcome!

How long have you had it? What kind of experience do you have with it? Do you know about the other models in the series?

422

I have 4 1/2" 422, I'm a revolver man but This little gun grew
on me. It's light and accurate and so far functions flawlessly. I
carry it while wade fishing all the time. A forum member made
me a gift of a pair of plastic grips that I use to save my wood ones. Now I don't have to worry about falling in water, gun is easy to break down and clean.

I've got a pretty basic model and I like it a bunch. I've got a Ruger MK II I used to use for bullseye shooting but as I don't do that any more I pretty much just shoot the S&W. It feeds fine and I've had no problems with most any ammo I've tried.

I don't shoot much .22 anymore so I don't think I'll be looking for the 6" model, seems all I do nowadays is 9m and .38 Sp. Here's a pic.

I was at a gunshow this morning and seen a model 522 with a Leopold scope on it for $500.00. It was in very nice shape with the original wood grips on it. To me the price was a bit high so it stayed there.

Hey Barrie!

Not to be picky but "Did They Make A M-522"? Hope you meant one of the others in the same series such as the M-622, M-2206 or the two smaller versions in Models 2213 & M-2214. To reply to the OP, I have only seen the 6" versions for sale in this area although I did shoot with a buddy who had the shorter 4.5". For some reason this series has been one of the best kept secrets until they were discontinued, now their prices reflect their accuracy and dependability. Have never seen a VR version except in photos but will add one of them to the want list. I say enjoy whichever you have and expect to pay more for the next one no matter which you stumble on.

I don't know about a M522 but this was a 522 silver pistol with light Blond wood stocks that i looked at at a show in Woodstock Ontario yesterday. Its the 1st 522 that i have ever seen and it had a 6" barrel on it with a Leopold scope mounted on top. It was in nice shape with slight wear marks but not bad actually. Looked identical to the 422 except for the finish colour. Even the scope matched the colour of the pistol as well. I know they use the same mags as the M41 as I did check that. The scope was a very basic scope with virtually No adjustments on it as well. The mounting bracket attached itself to the trigger grip in the front which was very different.

Would love to see some pics of your rare 6 inch 422..
Not sure if they are rare I think its a matter off no one posting.
I think the T-Bird was doing a little tongue-in-cheek goofing on us there. :D

I love the unique look of the whole dang series and have been searching for a nice 2206 (or maybe a 622) for quite a while now. Yes, I'm a stainless steel kind of guy. :) Finding one in really good shape that's still affordable on my limited budget can be a problem. ;)

Straight answer: "No. I don't"

But I do still have a 4.5" 622. I rarely shoot it anymore, what with .22 hoarding still apparently in full swing in my part of the world.

Just purchased one a few days ago...got it in today. 6" 422. I had a 4.5" and sold it a few years back like a dummy. I'm tickled pink to have another. What a great shooter!

ColbyBruce...Those wood grips look very handsome, much better than my plastic ones.

I've done a quick google search and haven't come up with a source for them, except for eBay. I'm watching one auction, but wondering if anyone knows where I can get some? Midway doesn't seem to have 'em. I'll check some other stock makers, but if anyone has a place to buy them, I'd appreciate finding out where.
