I am curious to know if any of you have one?

If so, do you shoot it?

I know there were not a lot of options as far as the guns go, and from what I have seen a 50 count box of the ammunition (If you can find it) is about as expensive as an old single shot.

I assume you can shoot the short ammumition in one chambered for long?

I once had a Stevens falling block single shot. I do not remember the model number. I cleaned it up but never fired it. I still have two full boxes of Western .25 Stevens RF ammunition, probably from the mid-1940s. The boxes are labeled just as .25 Stevens, no Long or Short.

I have a Remington model 4 rolling block rifle. It is an early lever takedown model and the caliber marking is .25-10 R.F. I have shot both .25 Stevens long and short. It is a lot of fun to shoot and is very accurate with the iron sights. It feels about the same as shooting a .22 rifle. I rarely shoot it due to the cost of the ammo.

I picked up several boxes of the CANUCK .25 RF ammo several years ago and even this 1970's production is getting hard to find and pricey.

These boxes came from the cartridge collection of a good friend and the majority are full with the exception of a round or two missing from a box of the short and long.....typical for a cartridge collector to snag a round or two for his/her collection.

I have been debating whether to list the ammo for sale or pick up a rifle and shoot a little of it.....but to be honest, a box of this stuff is worth about what an old Stevens single shot rifle in decent sells for these days!

From what I've been seeing on the collectible ammo market you have a nice chunk of change there! Probably could get a nice S&W or two with what that stuff usually sells for....... Though, admittedly it usually doesn't sell very fast. I always have people asking for it but when I do have some the price often causes them to think really hard about how much they actually want it!

I have a couple old Stevens. One was from my great grand dad's on my dad's side of the family, and the other was my grand dad's on my mom's side. I only have 4 rounds of 25 rim fire. I had 2 boxes of the Canuck, but it got lost or left in the move from Ohio to Florida.

Here's my Stevens Favorite in 25 Stevens.
Needs some work...

Will probably end up as a .22LR with some custom mods.
These days, Not too bad for $20.
Something I can work with.

BUT, there is a way to make CF .25Stevens ammo if you are in to cartridge conversions and reloading.

The cases are made from .22 Hornet using .25acp FL sizer die.
A small amt of lathe work is needed to thin the base the case just ahead of the rim after sizing. That leaves you with a straight walled case like the .25RF Stevens.
Trim to length.

Change breech block to CF.
Chamber may need rim recess deepened, etc

There's a lot of info on the process including loads and techniques over on the CastBoolit forum.

I'll probably stick with a boring .22LR. But it is an interesting conversion.
My 28-30-110 Stevens is odd enough.

A few years ago bought a single shot -bolt action 22 Stevens at a sale. Turned out to be a 25rf. I’ve had several single shot falling blocks, tip downs, ect but never did much shooting because of ammo situation. Use to pick up some ammo in Canada at ma & paw stores & gas stations in off the track places. That was 50 years ago, the ammo is long gone along with most ma & pa operations.
I have Remington RB that use to be a octagon barrel 25rf. It’s be running a Remington 513T barrel since early 60’s. My designated Turkey shoot 22.

Great looking rifle!

I have an old .25RF Stevens rifle that belonged to my Granddad. I used to shoot snapping turtles with it 80 yrs ago. It has a Stevens 'scope , about 4 power. It was originally a .22rf and was bored out to .25 Stevens. It's well over 100 yrs old now. I have a couple boxes of old .25RF ammo.,but may just get the gun barrel & chamber relined to .22RF in order to shoot it economically again. Ed

I have a Stevens Hunters Pet in 25 RF Stevens that I have never fired as I've never seen any ammo for it. I believe I would shoot it if I could.
