Anyone shoot silver bear?

A lot of people commented in a recent steel cased ammo thread that they shot a lot of silver bear ammo with good results.

I have shot a lot myself and found it to be the most accurate of the bears, but I havent tried the golden bear, mostly cause I havent ran across it. LOL

I shoot Silver Bear. I bought 500 rounds of the 62gr hollow points. It feeds fine through my rifle.

I have shot over 1,000 rounds of SB through my rifle since I got it in Feb without a single misfire. Been switching back & forth between the 55 and 62 gr. Was surprised at its accuracy. Got 1,500 rounds sitting on the shelf with another 500 on the way.

Seems like I've been ordering some online whenever I get a chance, as fewer and fewer vendors have it stock.

Silver bear and Golden bear are both good ammo for what it is. I have shot 1,000s of rounds and never had any problems. The 55gr and the 62gr hollow points are both GTG. Just remember that you should clean thoroughly before shooting brass cased ammo because the steel does not expand like brass causing some build up of carbon that can cause extraction issues.

+1 for Silver Bear. I got 1k for $200 a year ago, thought it was a pretty good deal. Haven't run across Golden Bear. I was told to stay away from Brown Bear in 5.56 because the lacquer coating will gum up the action.

Looking to get some Silver Bear, but I have shoot over 500 rounds of Brown Bear (even cheaper) with great results. NO FTF or FTE in the bunch I got. They do tend to run dirty and I also make sure that if I am going to shoot some brass rounds with the steel, I will shoot the brass first. The reason being I have been told that the steel case does not expand fast enough to keep some blow back from getting in the chamber making it harder to eject the brass case. I am not sure about that, but I shoot the brass first just to be sure.

Silver bear runs great, I shoot the brass after words to clean it out somewhat but have yet to have a sticking issue and I ran about 1000 rounds of steel cased before I started running brass cased new and reloads that I loaded myself.

For some weird reason my M&P OR does NOT like Silver Bear. I had a ton of FTF's, FTE's, etc. No biggie for me as I reload .223 for cheaper than Silver bear anyways.

SilverBear is the ONLY steel cased ammo I will shoot in my S&W M&P 15.

It shoots great!

If your gun has a chromed lined bore and chamber the steel cased ammo won't hurt it plus the steel case is coated to soften the clambering too. I have read that some guns not s&w don't like feeding the hollow points. I can't remember which gun it was.

The melonite barrel has no problems with it. Also the S&W's have a chrome barrel but not the chamber. I am pretty sure they cut the chamber when they finish machining out the chrome after plating.

At the height of this most recent ammo shortage WPA, Brown Bear, and Silver Bear was all I could find anywhere. I sighted my rifle with it when I got my optic. No problems at all and was very accurate. I liked it enough that I won't hesitate to shoot it again in my OR if I see it at a good price.
