Anyone use YETI coolers and/or mugs?

Yeti products are ridiculously expensive and worth every dollar I've found. As others mentioned, they cups of all sizes keep cold cold and hot almost hotter. I've had their larger tumbler for years and it's as good as the day it was purchased. I've been known to use the same ice for two days.

As for the coolers, I picked up a large 105qt several years back, had it loaded with ice, fresh caught halibut and beer. It was gone from camp the next morning. At least we recovered the halibut and it was still good! The morons couldn't make it far due to the weight, so they turned it over on the ground. All of the halibut was nicely chilled under the ice and cold beer cans on the cold wet grass. The cooler is still missing - maybe it can be used as a casket for one of the assclowns that took it.

You could say I'm kind of a Yeti fan. We have four in the house. I've got a now discontinued 16qt for my work lunch cooler. We also have a 20qt and one of the first soft sided one. That soft sided cooler is our travel cooler - it goes to Hawaii as a carry on (fits overhead) and then serves chill duty once there. Keeps all the drinks cold at the beach, by the hot tub and during the hot daytime car travels - don't worry about buying that fresh fish to take back to the room later as it stays cold all day. Usually by about day 3, it's time to refresh the ice.

Last fall I brought another 115qt along on a moose trip. The frozen foods were packed in the bottom and the "just keep cold" products kept on top. The cooler sat out in the daylight all week and was opened/closed about 20 times a day. By day eight, some of the "just keep cold" actually started to freeze. That's all the proof I needed.

I have a Yeti Cooler. Nice to go on a camping trip for 4-5 days and not have to make multiple "ice runs". The secret (in the instructions) is to pre cool it with a bag of ice over night prior to loading it with ice, drinks, food, etc.

Then keep the opening and closing to a minimum when in camp. I think they are worth the extra money - besides they are bear proof.

I just bought an RTIC as an Xmas gift for my brother. I bought a 45 quart size, and it was $180 shipped. It gets good reviews at half the price of the Yeti, but the dang thing is heavy. I heard that WalMart blew these out for $140 last year; wish I'd nabbed one then.

The older I get the more I appreciate good tools, which is all a cooler is.

Picked this up about a month ago, $105 OTD...

I have two Yeti 32 oz cups that cost me over 40 bucks each and that is way more than they are worth and they don't keep coffee hot near as long as my Walmart 24oz Thermos cup with the push button top. I drink water and soda out of my Yetis and I will say that they are pretty high quality because I have used and abused them and they still look like brand new. I also just noticed a place has them on sale for Black Friday "two for one" so that means the 32 oz cups are now about 20 bucks each and that's a lot closer to what they are worth.

There is an interesting YouTube test where a guy does time/temp tests between the Yeti tumbler and the physically identical one from Ozark Trail. They performed identically. Then he hacksawed them up to look at their interiors. Again, identical.
For coolers I've used big Yetis on summer desert river trips and they do perform well. This fall I did a trip in summer type temps in Utah and our boats all carried Canyon Coolers. They are about 25% less than Yetis, performed equally well if not better and I like the fact that they are locally made in Flagstaff, Arizona.
I read a story someplace that RTic was started by a brother of the guy who owns Yeti. They supposedly had a falling out and he went his own way. On small items I noticed on RTic's website that you can bulk buy multiple items, lowering the price even more.

I heard the same thing and based on the purchase of a couple of their Ozark Trail branded mugs and comparison to the ONE Yeti mug I have, I believe it. There was no noticeable difference in insulating properties between the two. There is however a HUGE difference in price.

You Tube videos also seem to confirm that they are basically the same.

I agree and own both. The WM buy seems to last even longer than the Yeti.
