So I'm getting an M&P15 Sport in the next few weeks. I plan on swapping out the fore end and stock for Magpul MOE so I can mount a light without going with a quad rail setup. Other than that I'm keeping it simple. Might move my 1-4 scope off my Mini.

Is there anything that would be better swapped out on this gun to improve it? From my reading it sounds like it runs well with little issues thus why I bought it.

I just got one Wednesday. I can't compare to other AR's as it's my first time.

I don't like the pistol grip, too small for me.

The charging handle is somewhat flimsy for my taste.

I don't mind the trigger, no clue on weight, so will wait on a new trigger and what type, single or 2 stage.

This is my first 5 shots out of the box (after a good cleaning and oiling)

It was suggested to get Magpul MOE furniture. I am going to decide either a red dot or a scope. I really need two Sports :D

Other than that.....

I love it.

So far, the only thing I have changed on my Sport has been magazines.

I seem to find they all malfunction and quit feeding rounds after only 10, 20, or 30 pulls.

Have yet to figure out exactly why, but the magazines always seem to quit feeding ammo.............

Start adding stuff, you start adding weight. I keep this rifle light, and simple.

If I had to pick anything it would be the loose stock. I changed mine out for a Magpul CTR.

+1 on the ctr stock. might as well spend an extra few bucks over the moe. definitely an awesome upgrade. also change the grip & pick up a moe+ it makes a whole lot of difference & much more comfy to hold the rifle. also you might want to change out the stock handguard. that thing gets hot really fast & gets hard to handle.

The only things I did was change to a BCM Gunfighter grip and charging handle.

i changed out the front stock for a quadrail.may go with something else later.where the pistol grip was concerned i installed a slip on houge grip. that made the gripping surface of the pistol grip a little larger and feels more comfortable to handle

I purchased my Sport for close quarter-home defense. I was going with a quad rail and such.

However, mine has the 5R barrel and I found that it is soooooo accurate that I have left it stock and installed a 9 power scope. I shoot it mainly long distance. Remarkably accurate!

I do hope to install a target trigger at some point.

The Sport is priced about where all of these "easy to manufacture" AR style rifles should be.

It is a great concept. It has what you need and nothing you don't.

I say leave it "as is," and spend the extra money on spare mags and ammo.

Everyone needs a "beater."

:)

I'm on 10 acres so I want a good light for outside the house. I've already got a Surefire M951 so now I just have to choose how to mount it. That's why I'm wanting to go with the MOE hand guard. Simple but does what I need. Unless people have a good mount that will work on the stock setup?

I planned on leaving my sport stock, but lately I'm itching to change some stuff on it. May go with MOE hand guards and an STR stock. Already swapped the a2 pistol grip out with a MOE.

I will eventually be adding an aimpoint pro to mine.

Well I went a little overboard lol.... out of all the mods the free float hand guard did make a difference in accuracy (yes it did!!), heavier BCG less recoil and muzzle rise, trigger (Geissele SSA) quicker follow-up shots and last and I am sure all will agree that cheap rattly stock.

Those are all good recommendations, thanks!!!
I bought one early in the year, but feel I should have waited a few more months. I was concerned about the possibility of more bans here in California, may still happen!! Already knowing I was gonna have to overpay because of the chaos causing severe shortages, what do you think would have been a good price in Jan. considering the shortages???
