I know the news media, tv in particular, has to cover all the latest happenings, and I'm sorry to hear of Micheal Jackson's passing, but....

the last I heard the North Korean's had a ship with unknown cargo traveling south. The destroyer USS John S. McCain was tracking it.

Seems like this "news" has been put on the back burner.

As usual, the news media has suspended reporting on trivial affairs to focus their attention on the really important news that some pop culture icon has died. Check back in a week or so after the funeral if you really must know about the less important events like the N. Korean ship and its nuclear cargo.

It's not much of a story with North Korea. The ship in question is carrying a load of conventional munitions to Burma, where the authoritarian government often buys weapons from N. Korea. The rather toothless UN resolution (which amounted to little) does not authorize American (or any other vessels) to stop and search North Korean ships. Mind you, it does allow us to ask politely... If the North Korean ship puts into Hong Kong, then the Chinese could choose to do a bit more, but they most likely won't.
