AOL Rant (Don't read if you don't like rants)

Still use an AOL email that I started in 1998 just because most everything online I use is attached to it (Credit cards, forums, online commerce accounts, Amazon, etc...) Everything I want goes to spam and all my spam is in my inbox. It's not worth fixing.

I left the AOL program in like 2001 or 2002. Since then it's just been a free email. If it ever dies I will make another Gmail and go through the tedious task of updating everything.

I use both G-Mail and AOL. The reason for using both is a LONG story, having to do with this forum ( it was my screw up; not the forums). I do use G-MAIL rather than AOL on more of a routine basis however :)

I have just recently switched aMac and in the bookmarks there are places I would love delete because I never use them anymore but guess what there is no way that I have found that you can do it.

I had no idea AOL was still around.

Sure. Verizon acquired AOL just two years ago for $4.4 billion. To put that into perspective, Smith & Wesson (AOBC) market cap is $700 million.

Apparently, that $25/mo JSR sends to AOL adds up. :D

I just started to access AOL/email via the website once AOL Gold came about and the application quit working.

But like others, I have my AOL email access through my iPhone or iPad so it's rare when I need to go to the AOL webmail site.

OK, here's a post to actually help the OP. :D

Alphabetized lists are also placed in numerical order. Go through your list and starting with the one you want listed first, put 01 in front of the name. Keep doing this until you have the one you want last numbered. Now when you open the list, it should show up in numerical order, but the names will be in the order you want them.

Now for the tricky part: suppose after you get them all numbered, you want to add a name between #20 and #21. Name the new item 20A and it should show up in between 20 and 21.

Should you have over 99 names, you can use three digits instead, starting with 001. Yes, renaming them all is a bit of a pain, but no one said life would be easy. :D

yes, in the early summer (?) of this year, Verizon mail switched to AOL. I have noticed no changes, unless I want to actually go and check at AOL for email. I have used Outlook since day one and have a hotmail account, couple of verizon accounts and they all technically flow through hotmail to my home.

I would imagine there are some work arounds for your issues, but the popping up of your email address and manually changing it, that seems across the board, I have had that issue with newer outlook app platforms. But google the issue and try several phrases. When that runs out, then rant some more. But many times there are work arounds..

we had similar change when ATT had to split up years ago. i had an att.net email and they forced us to change to bellsouth.net, so i did. 16 years later I'm still typing bellsouth instead of ATT because I have it assigned to so many accounts. and, of course it's back to ATT after all.

it's kinda like ms windows, they change stuff, then sit around giggling while thinking about how frustrated all us old timers are as we learn to navigate the changes.
