Finally got to the range with the Apex spring kit and trigger in my SD9VE. I buy that the spring kit means more than the trigger, but I have always preferred the feel of the blade safety in the trigger over the hinge.

Pistol shoots great. I now shoot my SD on par with the other pistols in my life. I did not expect magic, it did not turn me into a marksman. What it did do is make my groups similar if not the same to me shooting a Glock, M&P, etc.

Mission accomplished, thanks Apex!

The Apex spring kit really does help these guns out. My experience is very similar to yours. With the spring kit being about $20, it’s a cheap investment that pays back a nice return.

The only problem I had was the striker spring, it would not ignite some primers in certain types of ammo, so I went back to original.

Also if your competent ? Polishing the parts that rub together is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT, I POLISHED EVERYTHING, tore pistol completely apart.

I used mothers mag polish with dremel and various felt accessories, also small files to deburr certain parts like the plunger and sanding bit for the hole it goes into, just as 1 example.

Also stoning works too if that's the way you want to go ?

Why waste your money on ammo shooting the gun over and over again when you can take your time just polishing parts.

I bought my gun to modify to my needs your's may vary ?

Also used J B Bore paste on barrel after shooting a few hundred rounds took a lot of reamer marks out and I saw a slight improvement in accuracy. Be careful with that stuff so you don't make the muzzle of the barrel bigger than the rest. Stop short of the muzzle slightly.

I have a Bore Scope to see what it looks like inside so I go with that.

Just my opinion on what can make it a lot better if you can do such work.

Oh I also stuck with the original guide rod not a steel one, bought a steel one but it was beating the heck out of my frame tabs even with different springs. I also checked for stacking of the spring and it was fine.

I own the .40 so a 9mm might be different ?
