So I recently installed a new apex duty/trigger kit in my 40 shield. Took it to the range and I must say I didn't notice much of a difference. I am in MA where it has a 10lb trigger pull so I was expecting it to be quite a noticeable difference. Even the reset didn't feel much different. After researching a little it seems that some folks keep the factory trigger return spring rather than using the apex spring. Anybody here have this experience? Kind of bummed and I'm out $140. Thanks in advance

The apex return spring is heavier. The apex sear spring seems to be a bit heavier I have no confirmation from apex on that but if you compress both you can feel it so I kept the factory one too. I'm just using the apex sear, striker block, and striker block spring. Trigger pull is under 6lb, I also polished the trigger bar, and the striker block. If you installed the apex trigger it reduces the pre and over travel.

I purchased an apex duty/carry kit for my 9mm shield and installed it to find it was as bad or worse than the factory. I left in
all the parts (sear etc) and replaced all the Apex springs with the factory ones. Now it is as smooth as butter with a 5.5lb trigger pull.

I used my OEM spring....3.5 on one and a bit less on the other.

The apex return spring is heavier.

Mass uses a heavier trigger return spring then the free States.

So his stock spring would be worse. What he needs is a stock spring
from any other State. or just order a "H" trigger bar from Brownells.

Comes with a standard trigger spring. And if the trigger bar is different, that's covered.

EDIT:
ooops, damn. Brownells is out of stock again. Seems like nobody can keep those "H"
trigger bars in stock.

Thank you everyone. That makes sense about the mass spring being heavier. I will keep an eye out for those to come back in stock
