Apex hard sear

Been reading up on this upgrade. Does anyone have experience installing the hard sear themselves? It doesn't look that complicated to me. What about the Action Enhancement Kit? Is it all necessary or is the hard sear the main thing. Just trying to improve my shot placement.

Installing a hard sear can be done in less than 3 minutes with proper tools. Apex produce two Action Enhancement Kits, the Competition AEK (Comp AEK) and the Defensive Carry AEK (DCAEK) both excellent and both will transform your very nice stock M&P in a terrific pistol. Here in the forum you will find dozens of threads about trigger jobs including Apex kits and parts installations.

I ordered the DCAEK for my 9C. I installed the kit, but returned to the stock trigger spring as I liked it better than the Apex spring. Simple installation by following the video and instructions.

I used an Allen wrench and the tool supplied by Apex to remove and reinstall the rear sight on my 9C for the striker block installation. I used a small punch and screwdriver to install the hard sear. I'm not very mechanically inlined, but this installation was a breeze.

Which model gun. Mine went into my Shield with a safety in a very few minutes. I just bought the sear no springs.

Note spring under sear. Be careful.

Manipulating the safety cage to get the pin out was found on another video on Youtube. about 4:30 M&P Shield Manual Safety Removal - YouTube

Take your time putting the assembly back in the gun. You will need to work the trigger to get all the parts to fit do it will drop back into the frame.

That sear alone dropped the pull weight on my gun from 8# down to 5-3/4#

Can you tell me what tools are needed.

Hammer & 3/32" punch to remove the roll pins (it helps if the hammer says "Master Mechanic" on it). Allen wrench for the rear sight, large tweezers for the itty-bitty sear spring. Everything else was included in the kit. Maybe the allen wrench was in the kit too, don't remember.

For me, the hardest part is always the trigger spring swap. For range-only guns, I keep the factory trigger spring in place. Makes things much easier. Do the kit, not just the sear.

Thanks Much. I have a M&P9fs and a M&Pc. I am planning on doing the 9fs for now. I'll decide later if I want to do the compact also.
