Apex sear help

i want to order one of the fully machined sears for my 9mm Shield, went to the website and i must be stupid but i can't tell for sure which specific sear i need for my gun. I think it's 100-074(part#). I emailed Apex but it's the weekend and they are closed....does anybody know the part # i need.....I'm stupid....Mike

That sear (100-074) is for the full size and compacts only - it will not fit the Shield.

It doesn't look like Apex sells just the sear alone for the Shield but only as the full action enhancement kit here: https://store.apextactical.com/WebDirect/Products/Details/191855

EDIT: Now I'm confused, too. In the product description it says sear #100-074 does not fit the Shield, but watching the video for the Shield action kit installation they say that the Shield sear is the same one as in the full size and compact M&P.

I have no idea, now.

right...the info is confusing....at amazon i looked at reviews(all positive) for the 100-074 and folks there are saying they put this part in their Shield pistols....i wish it were more clear on the apex website. I guess i'll have to wait till i hear from apex

I bought mine on ebay but it was a long time ago and do not remember what part number was. Did a search there and is one left with part #100-074 and says it is for Shield.

Two Brothers Tactical doesn't list a part # (at least, I didn't see one), but this is the one you want. They refer to it as the M&P Fully Machined Sear... ~$40 for the regular and ~$45 for the polished.

Per their site, it works with all M&P Models, including the Shield (see bottom of the page). I got this one last year and it does work, but with just the sear alone, it makes the trigger pull almost too light for my liking.

On the Apex site, the 100-074 page specifically states 'Does NOT fit the Shield'.

The 100-71 says 'Including the Shield'.

Its 100-071, I just bought one last month - Look it up on the Apex site, it lists the Shield.

i did a search with your part# on the apex sight and it shows that part as fitting the Shield but is listed as a "gunsmith fit" sear,not a fully machined drop in part.....still confused. Like i said reviews on the 100-074 state that it fits the Shield...but that part at the apex sight says "not for Shield"....still confused...thanks for your info......Mike

Okay... This got me real curious, so I pulled the envelope for the sear I got from 2broTactical (yes... I save that stuff) and it does have an Apex part#...
The one I got from them is #100-74. So it does work with the Shield.

So basically... At this point, you can probably use either the 71 or the 74... Flip a Coin.
I'd probably try the 71 though, since the official Apex site recommends against the 74 in the Shield.
It makes me wonder if they found (like I did) that the 100-74 maybe makes the Shield trigger too light and they changed the recommendation (after I bought mine?).

A few weeks ago I published the name of the Customer Service guy at APEX; Michael Graham?? something like that. A couple of other members also have spoken with him to get to the bottom of problems.

Guy knows his stuff, tries to help folks before they fall down the rabbit hole.

Dial them direct, ask for the man who's forgotten more about the S&P M&P APEX sear engineering than any of us will ever know~~~he'll set you straight.

I recall the Apex M&P45 sear is what goes into the Shield as well

yes....according to Apex the fully machined sear for a 9mm Shield is part number 100-063

update.....ordered the sear(100-063) yesterday from MidwayUSA. FWIW Midway's price plus shipping is cheaper(for me) than Apex Tactical. Apex is in CA as am I so buying from them means $8.95 shipping + CA sales tax....Midway is $4.95 shipping,no tax........Mike

Got my sear today,disassembled,replaced sear, then had a little trouble getting sear housing reinstalled but got it right. Mag safety was a pita. All i was after was a little lighter break and i got what i was after....I'm happy....probably 4.5-5lbs. And for sure the Apex sear you need for a 9mm Shield is 100-063........Mike
