What is the real world difference between an M&P 9mm Pro and an M&P 9mm with an apex trigger job? S&W appears to about an extra $60 for the Pro model. Thoughts?

I have a Pro & in my opinion there's a noticeable difference between with the Apex kit before & after the install. When I get a chance I'll check the manufacture date.

Night and day difference, but my pro had the worst trigger I have ever felt. My pro did come with trijicon night sights, so the extra $ might be worthwhile.

I installed the Apex trigger kit, USB & RAM in my two M&P Pro guns. I highly recommend it.

The pro will have better sights than the non-pro, but you still need the Apex stuff.

One of my Pros had a case of gritty trigger, but cleaning out the grit and a little polishing on the SB and trigger bar took case of it.
Both my Pros settled down just a touch over 4#.

The 5" Pro comes with FO sights, the 4.25" Pro with night sights.

IMHO, the Pro does not "need" anything, but if you like the shorter APEX trigger, buy it. But shoot one first and make up your own mind. It is a current fad to seek lighter triggers to "cure" yanking the trigger.

I have both a standard M&P 9mm and a Pro CORE .40

The Pro trigger felt a tad better than the standard. I put an Apex FSS and trigger in the standard and it is much better than the Pro. Since the body is interchangeable, I just bought a new Apex striker block for the Pro, after installing, both slides feel the same on the same body with the trigger and FSS installed.

Buying the Pro (not counting the newer 4.25-4.5") is mostly getting you a 5" barrel and a supposedly better sear and striker. I have an original ~2009 9 Pro and it was just ok out of the box (better than full size). I certainly appreciated the improvement I got in travel and pull after adding the Apex sear/striker/springs kit. I haven't felt the need for changing out the trigger though. Of course I bought that gun for IDPA and I love the fiber optic front sight (when fiber changed to red) and black rear. Because of IDPA and USPSA production a forward set trigger isn't an option for me.

To me the 4.25/4.5 Pro is a waste if your going to use Apex anyway. IMO your better off with just an M&P full size and adding Apex and/or sights to taste. That's all the Pro of course and not including the CORE where you also get the option to mount an optic. If you just want a good to go gun out of the box any of the Pro's will do just fine.
