APEX trigger vs Pro CORE

So having made the switch to the Shield from the G26 I thought I would start to migrate the rest of the family to S&W. Bought the Shield last week, and today traded the G17 and bought a 5 inch 9mm CORE. Before I took the CORE for out for its inauguration I finished up a little work on the Shield-- put in the APEX carry kit (actually bought the trigger too but wasn't digging it) and put on Ameriglo I Dot sights. What's the punchline-- well, I shot the Shield better than the CORE. I think that even though the CORE trigger is better than the stock M&P trigger, it isn't as good as the APEX. So now I've ordered an APEX kit for the CORE too. I thought about the FSS, but decided to try to keep some parity between platforms so just getting the same kit as I have on the Shield.

Good choice. After I bought my CORE I shot it only once before I put the APEX kit in. Absolutly love it.

If you can, shoot someone's FS with the FSS kit in. OMG, it makes the trigger so nice! I have the DCAEK kit in our 9c's and the FSS kit in our Pro's. Bought a Core with the competition kit in. It had lots of issues. Took out the competition kit and put the FSS kit in, zero problems now.

Try the trigger pull after only the apex striker block is installed . See what you think before moving on with other parts .

I put the total APEX package on both my Shield and CORE. I don't believe there is a better system on any pistol.

I have the performance center core as well as 2 other M&P's that both have the apex with the FSS.

i'm keeping the core trigger only because i can swap slides around and then use my core frame with a non ported slide/barrel if i ever want to compete and stay in a reasonable class for my skills.

that said. the apex is still way better. and i'm running the 5.5 lb spring.

CORE 4.25" .40 S&W owner here. Not a competitor. Yes, I like to have fun with my CORE at the range and like a good trigger. But the principal reason I got it to have an optic ready handgun to open carry with me bowhunting. So it could get used defensively, but more likely on 4 legged than 2 legged risks.

I've heard there are two types of Apex trigger replacements, one for competition (and is very light), and one that is not for competition but is smooth, crisp and in the 4-5# range. The latter is what I am interested in. What is that one called and how is the experience with it?

It's the APEX Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit (DCAEK). Averages 4.3 lbs. of trigger pull if you use the stock trigger spring and 5.5 (according to APEX) if you use the spring that comes with the kit.

how is the experience with it?

I'm new at the S&W game but not guns. I'd say it's good. Hard to find striker fired pistols with a crisp trigger, but I'd say S&W with APEX is the best I've found.
