Are BB guns going to be the next target?

I just read on Fox News that a 10 yr old boy from Florida had died from being shot in the head close range by a BB gun. What a terrible tragedy especially at such a young age. While I was reading, I thought about how we played with Daisy BB guns all the time when I was a kid. No one ever worried about how dangerous they could be. I have my brother in-law's Daisy pump action now, he didn't want it in the house after both parents passed on. He doesn't like guns now that he is older. The pump was the most powerful BB gun Daisy made and holds a high capacity of 50 BB's. These could be the next target to become banned if the law makers get wind. Sorry, no news links allowed to be posted, I've been warned.

if they can expel a kid for pointing his finger and saying bang. anything is possible. We are living in a nanny state.

Probably not a BB gun as most of us are used to from childhood. I would think it would have to be one of the newer high power air guns. Barrel break or CO2. Not a Red Rider.

Watch some the video's of guys shooting feral pigeons with these air rifles. 100 yard shots were common. These are expensive rifles.

Yeah, the BB guns from our childhood don't even come close to the new ones. In fact, some 'tard in my neighborhood was shooting at my house from somewhere concealed a good distance away. I was out in my backyard and kept hearing taps on my aluminum siding and all of a sudden, my husky started whining and freaking out next to the door on my deck. I let her inside and closed the door. Then I got shot in my arm (drew blood and felt like fire), looked down at the deck and there were a couple of BB's laying on the wood. One was rolling to a stop, and one was covered in blood. I went inside, cleaned myself up, checked out my dog (she had blood coming from her rear paw), and called the police out to investigate. They said unless there was visible damage to the house, they couldn't do anything even though I had been shot and my dog too. I told them I didn't care about the siding, but when someone's obviously shooting at me and my dog, I take it personally. They agreed to check around the neighborhood, found out from someone else it was a teenager from the next neighborhood who was known for causing trouble.

next....they are considered firearms in NJ and require a Federal Firearms ID to purchase.

I wouldn't be surprised since some look like those evil black rifles ...

In England they're regulated pretty much like firearms. Go over a certain velocity or Ft/Lb's of energy and you can go to jail.

I was not allowed to have a BB gun as a young lad. "It will put somebodies eye out". I did get a single shot 22 when I was about nine.

Illinois requires a FOID card to buy high power air rifles. Not sure the FPS requirement though.

I have always

Even as a kid I thought it was stupid to shoot people with bb guns. Others had 'bb gun fights' and I never participated. A few days ago in my neighborhood a kid got a pellet in his foot from somebody else being a *******.

We were never allowed to have BB gun fights.
Rock wars was OK though.

You are right, I forgot about those rock wars how could I forget about them. Imagine having a snowball fight only using rocks instead of snow, yes we did. What the heck was wrong with us back then.

I once got a fat lip from a Daisy from probably about 35 ft. We had dirt clod wars. Of course, sooner or later someone would throw one that either had a rock in it, or was solid red clay, and then the real fight was on.

We lived next to the ocean and had Jellyfish fights, picked teams, waited for low tide, stripped off our shirts and went at it. Winning team had the least welts....
