I love this site and learn much from it and the people here. It has been a great resource for sourcing additions and ammo. The Official In Stock 22LR Ammo Thread has been a great help & I thank all those who take the time to update the thread with current listings.

However I am so danged frustrated by members here who continually post comments that have nothing to do with others finding 22lr ammo online. With the small inventory that comes in to these retailers, you have to act quickly to get an order in before it goes out of stock. So when I see the thread has been updated, I quickly click on the thread to see if I could use what is available. But danged if most of the time it is someone giving their opinion about something, that I could care less about.

This is happening again right now, when the site administrators just made a huge post reminding members to only post ammo links. So are all these folks just plain stupid or is it they can't read? Maybe it is folks who just jump in the middle of a discussion without taking the time to read prior posts and understand the nature of that particular discussion?

Sorry for the rant but I am very frustrated. I can only imagine how the site admin feels. So many times I want to post a comment in that thread saying SHUT THE HELL UP, however that would be a violation of the rules of that thread. Thus this new thread. I don't know if this post will get me in trouble with the folks in charge here, but if it helps to make people slow down & understand the rules prior to posting, then it will be worth it.

Boy, talk about kicking a can of snakes ... :D

Who me? :)

Probably shouldn't have posted this & really don't want to insult anyone. But dang it... these folks are really wasting my time. Hate to think how much time Phil has put into that thread deleting posts & begging folks to follow the instructions. He is a better man then me.

What is sad to me is that the price for ammo is NEVER gonna drop.
I was able to get my hands on 2,000 rds of match grade for @ $0.10 per round, and I just can't seem to get any cheaper.
Even Midway wants 60$ for CCI hollow points (500 rds) and then shipping is 25$ and you aren't allowed to buy more than 1 box per day, if it's in stock which it usually isn't.
I've received 6 notifications from them via e-mail and by the time I click on the link, it's sold out!!!
The gun shop by me wants $9.60 for 40rds of CCI and even there you can only buy one box per day.

Sorry didn't mean to get off subject. "Are gun owners stupid". Can't speak for the rest, but I'm dumber than a box of rocks. A carrot looks intelligent to me!
Stupidio, too. Stupid for buying this rifle and then adding stuff to it.
But, I'm sure enough having a good time doing it until I look at my bank balance.

I quit looking for 22 months ago.If I'm in Walmart (God forbid!) I'll check or if I'm here and a fresh link pops up ,I'll look at it,but actually making an effort to hunt it down or paying more than .05 a round defeats the purpose of a 22 for me.Plinking should be fun,not work!

1000% Agree. Honestly, I believe most of the time it is merely navel-gazing. I have started replying with PMs to these folks. Unfortunately, if they are too lazy to read posting etiquette, I don't know that they would read my PMs.

The only other thing to do would be ban those users that cannot comply (darwinian - survival of the semi-intelligent), or tear down the thread in the first place. The other option is to just let the chatter occur, and not be quite so draconian about it in the first place. Of the three, either the first or last would be best, IMHO...

Just my $0.02 (that's 2 cents worth, for those keeping score... Worth much more than .02 cents worth! ;) )

I don't care for this option. The whole intent of that thread is for members to QUICKLY get links to ammo that will only be available for mere minutes. Chat slows that down & causes searchers to wast time coming to the thread to only find chit chat... not links.

The rules are simple, straightforward... and logical for the purpose of that thread. I see nothing draconian about enforcing published rules. We ain't kids here... are we? Aren't gun owners supposed to be responsible adults?

We have our young men dieing so anyone following the rules can post what they want where they want just like you started this post. It's called freedom.

Sorry, but I don't understand. The problem here is folks not following the rules of that thread. I'm having trouble getting your point. Are you saying they should stop the chit chat in that thread or are you saying that folks in America are free & can do what they want... regardless of established rules?

Fair enough, Jim.. But to me, it doesn't take that much time to scan to the most recent post with a link in it. Sure, it's annoying. And its easy for a thread to get off track.

Problem is, you can't fix stupid. And stupid might not be enough for a ban. So, then Phil closes the thread, and now no-one is happy.

Also, it's somewhat unfair to suggest that lazy or stupid in a public forum means irresponsible with a gun. Not that I'd trust half those folks at the range, but it still unfair.

Remember, no demonstration of responsibility is required for gun or child ownership. However, upon demonstration of lack of responsibility, those items are taken away.

It's all navel-gazing (useless or excessive self-contemplation). "Look at me! I scored some rounds and it only took 3 days to ship! I got the ammo for $0.0648827902 per round! and I got to go shooting and blah blah blah". That means it's folks that get little satisfaction in their daily life and seeking attention here.

Point is, I don't want to have to scan anything. If I see the thread has been updated, I expect to see a link to available ammo. Folks can chat all over the place or start their own thread. That specific thread is for links only.

I didn't say that. My point is, since gun owners are supposed to be responsible and know how to follow gun safety rules, then why can't they be responsible enough to follow simple forum rules?

Maybe a .22 ammo discussion thread here? I know there are threads in the other forums here for that, but maybe one here would herd the noise better?
It is distracting to see all the chatter, but at the same time it is allowed on the other threads, such as the pic and mag availibility. Maybe reason for some confusion, but most likely laziness and being inconsiderate.

Redneck,
I will answer because I am one of the people you are refurring too. Just didn't read through the 6300 some odd posts first, never saw the First post warning. Jumped in near the end when I needed Ammo.

OK, I'm an idiot, ***hole, jerk, time waster, stupid, ignorant, navel gazer, who's posts aren't worth spit. I did not realize that the thread was for ONLY .22 ammo availability reports and comments on the accuracy of those reports was not allowed. To me (remember, I'm an idiot), ammo reports that are sold out before the poster finishes typing are just as silly as I am, typing this. I just happened to get lucky and score on one of those reports (probably because it was 1:30am and I couldn't sleep) and reported same. I have deleted my post, and since I have a real job and don't cruise the internet from my bedroom all day long, I will have NO posts for that thread in the future. Frankly, I feel sorry for those of you who salivate over 15¢, or more, per round (after including shipping) as if it is something wonderful. BTW, the Gander Mountain Bucket-o-Bullets came out to 5.3¢ per round, including PA sales tax, shipped to my local store. All during this current craziness, my local gun shop has sold bricks of .22 for under 6¢ per round. They don't last long on the shelves, and I'm batting .500 at being able to get some when I stop by, but I have been able to purchase around 3,500 rounds since January.
