I called a local dealer and he said the new 642 no-locks weren't available from his sources any more. He thought he could get a new no-lock 442 though.

Does that sound right? I can live with a 442, but I was wanting to get a 642 for corrosion resistance.

Check GunBroker.com--there are still several listed for sale.

I see this question pop up, often, lately. The 642 no-lock is still listed as an option on the S&W web page. Can't a dealer just order one? Or, are they out of production at this time?

I had one of the older 642 that was +P rated but I gave it to my father. I have been thinking about getting another one but can not make m mind up about the stainless or the 442 black one--not to mention the 42 that are out there.

My local dealer told me they were all gone until I found Fugate Firearms who has the 642 and 442 in stock. I purchased a 442 last week.

But you better get moving
