Are revolvers getting scarce in your area?

I have read this thread only briefly--not keeping up with ALL posts--SO if this has already been said, please forgive me.
Revolvers vs Autos----hummmm.
I like both, I usually buy used stuff--in both.
Do em up my way---which is the most expensive but not as expensive as buying new in order to do it my way.
I Digress.
Rollers are the hardest to find used---or it is harder to find what you are looking for in your next project gun.
Now if you don't care what caliber, model or so-on and so-forth, you should not have any problems finding either/or .
Blessings

Yes, autos / tacticals are king in my area of Florida. Only in Gander Mountain will you find a decent selection of new revolvers.

I have taken advantage of that dynamic, buying older Smiths that are trade-ins or on consignment from the three new "tactical" gun shops which have sprung up in my area. Plus a couple of good deals from Gander Mountain (the same one off of Rt. 95 in Saint Augustine that you drive by to and from when visiting Disneyworld)

In the past six months from Gander Mt. I have purchased two Model 10's - a 4" nickel plated great shooter for $199.99 and a like-new 3" blued gun for $299.99. I don't understand their pricing , but am not complaining.

From one area tactical shop I picked up a Model 1905 Change three nickel plated 6" that is in excellent condition for an all original 106 year old gun. I paid $200 for that one.

From a second area tactical dealer I have bought four revolvers - a pair of Colt New Frontier .22 / .22 Mag convertibles (4 5/8 & 5 1/2 like new for $375 apiece, a Model 17-6 in excellent condition (95%+) for $300 and a Model 66-2, same shape as the 17, for $400.

Yesterday at the third local tactical shop I went in to purchase some ammunition and picked up a Model 15-4 2" beauty in great shape with a Tyler-T adapter for $265.

These shops pushing the Glocks and AR 15's don't seem to want the old revolvers cluttering up their display cases. That is certainly true of Gander Mountain where they are banished to a case off to the side, well away from the one case of new stainless revolvers and multiple cases of automatics. During your next trip to Orlando stop and check the GM used case -- over to the left away from the main gun counter -- you may find a deal!

Where there is an older, retired population you probably will find more of these great, older Smith revolvers for sale.

Revolvers here in the PacNW are as common as Win 94's or Marlin 336's.:D Local shops get everything and anything coming in the door. A lot of people are trading out of them, for the newest black plastic/polymer auto.

There is 1 real gun shop near Toledo. They just rebuilt after a fire. The new shop is very nice, and has an indoor range. At any rate, not in abundance, they keep getting in clean Smith revolvers. I looked at a 581 there, when I went back to get it (gone) $400. Had a beautiful 19, was nickel, and $495, sold. Had an unfired 28 for $495, etc. I buy used older guns that are clean, and they normally get some. The odd thing about this place is that the display cases are rustic wood. There is no glass on the fronts of the cases....... chicken wire! Bob

Hi, Bob. I was in there before their fire, and like most stores I see, they had no used Smith revolvers at all. Sounds like when they get one in they want to move it right away.

I'll have to check them out again sometime.

Andy
