My 442 revolver "prints" somewhat in my jeans pocket, even with a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. It's the wide *** "butt" on the grip that give it the "gun" look in my pocket....PLEASE don't suggest looser pants, as I wear what I wear for work reason, plus like the style, etc. But how about thinner grips for the 442 (which is same as 642 but black)??

Wrap the frame in some electrical tape.......just kidding.

What grips are on your 442? S&W has used several versions on that gun over the years. The Uncle Mikes Rubber Boot grips are narrower than the Hogue Bantams. You could also look at the Hideout grips which are Nylon and can be filed or sanded down to be slimmer and fit your hand. You can sand down the rubber grips too.

All three of these grips are black which some feel is better for pocket carry since there is less chance of someone catching a glimpse of your gun in your pocket.

I used to have a set of Ahrend boot grips that were very thin-- a little less grips than I prefer but great for pocket carry.

Spegel boot grips.

I use the magna/T grip combo. My other favorite is the Precision Hideout Grip. They are compact and conceal well.

Me too, although this is actually a BK adapter.
One can actually order these hassle free and fast delivery.

The magnas come out of a front pocket carry smoothly w/no "sticking" like the factory rubber does. :)

Scroll down. Altamont Company - Smith & Wesson Third from the last.

Like the man said, the Altamonts are great, and not being a boot grip, (or having a T-Grip), there is a little more grip to grab and fish it out of your pocket. Factory magnas are excellent as well.

I tried many different grips configurations before settling on the idea that S&W might actually know something about what grips work on their revolvers....:D

I have Altamont Boot grips on my M&P340, and for me, it depends on which pair of jeans I am wearing. Most jeans now don't have a large or loose pocket like they used to. My snubby fits fine in my Wrangler jeans, but prints horribly in my Carhartt jeans pocket.

If it prints a little, it's no big deal. People generally don't notice much of anything at a casual glance. If someone's staring at the front of your trousers long enough to figure out that you've got a gun in your pocket then somethings up.
When I pocket carry, I have my Pachmayr compacts and print like crazy. As far as I can tell nobody's noticed and if they did they haven't said anything.

So that's where this came from........."Is that a pistol in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

Plain old factory magnas with no T grip. Without the Tyler T you have more grip to grab and can get all of your fingers on the grip. Many like the Tyler. Plain old magnas for me.

Hi KLYDE: You like the magnas w/o the T-grip. When shooting, do you curl your pinky under the gun butt to prevent the weapon from 'diving' in your hand under recoil? I learned this from Applegate in his book "Kill Or Get Killed." Stay safe, partner.
