Hello all, a buddy of mine was left a Model 27, (dated about 1960), and recently told me of a couple sets of stocks that were also with the gun. One was a set of N targets, but looking at the pics of the 2nd set, I wondered if they’re Cokes. I compared with mine but the checkering field looks a little different to me, so I told him I’d ask the experts…Thanks for any input!

I didn’t think they were, but just couldn’t quite tell from the pics. He sent me a couple more which definitely do not show a coke shape to them. Nice set anyway, that’s for sure! Thanks for the help!

Very nice non relieved diamond target stocks, they look like Rosewood to me too.
Non relieved target stocks were an option from around 1950 ish to around 54-55 ish IIRC.

IMO the easiest way to identify Cokes is by their larger checkering area, most notably they go alot closer to the heel than the pair pictured.

Those stocks are not commonly encountered and a sweet bonus, likely today worth around $350-$450 to the right buyer.

There non-relieved diamond checkered targets, and I think maybe Rosewood. Doc would know about the Rosewood part, still worth good money........................................M*

The stocks you have are N diamond target stocks (not coke bottle stocks) made of rosewood. These stocks were usually made of American walnut, so the ones you have are quite unusual and rare. This is only the second pair made of rosewood I have seen in all the years I have collected S&Ws.

A thread just popped up with a 29 no dash wearing "Cokes" , notice the larger checkering area
Here's a link
4” 29 ND comes home

Ps, notice the heel shape is also very oval shaped compared to standard targets
