I am getting ready to buy another pistol soon. I really thought that I wanted a Shield, but it seems like they have alot of small issues. So at this point I wondering how Shield owners feel about their purchase. BTW my next purchase is looking like a M&P40c

Very happy with mine - conceals well, shoots great. I have no issues. Lots of other positive comments from happy owners in other forum posts here.

Agreed! For a mass produced product the issues have been minimal. I think it would be a good choice, if you can find one. & Welcome Shield, like your name/handle, somehow sounds familar LOL :D

Nothing is perfect but I nave not ever seen a gun that was so positively reviewed by most everyone that handles and shoots this pistol. I am still looking for an article that seriously slams this gun on any front other than more availability of guns and magazines. The reported number of small issues with this gun must make a tiny fraction of delivered pistols because they very seldom appear in forums other than obvious defects that S&W has, or will, correct at their cost.

This is my first M&P pistol and I think S&W really thought this gun out. I bought it because I am an instructor and I thought it would make a great pistol for student shooters of all sizes. I have only about 400 rounds of assorted factory and handloads butI have not had a malfunction of any kind. If you are looking for a reasonably priced "all purpose gun ", I think the Shield should really get your attention.

The Shield is a great pistol. I love mine and it performs flawlessly. I think you will be happy with the Shield.:)

Great pistol. I've had a great many back-up, off-duty type guns over the years. This is the best yet. The only way I can see to make it any more positive would be for S&W to get a .45 ACP version out to us as soon as possible, although I'm certain it will have to be a bit larger.

Issues?? We have two in the family and no issues with either one. Issues posted on the Internet are not always factual and many come from people who don't even own the product they make comments about.

We also have two M&P9 Compacts and in the 5-6 years we have owned them neither has had any issues as well.

The Shield is by far the best CCW handgun I have ever owned and it has replaced my 642 and 9 Compact as my daily carry gun. I think it will turn out to be the best new handgun introduced in 2012.

Put about 200 rounds through mine. No issues from the gun. For the price, quailty of the gun and how easy it is to carry its hard to beat it. Similar guns are several hundred dollars more. I forgot to mention the gun shoots like a full size gun. Only bad thing is the addiction it causes.

I'm speaking as a 3913 owner. My Shield is great but I just don't understand why theycan't make a standard length grip with a flat mag.
An 8 + 1 with a 3.5" barrel.

I've had my Shield since the week of the NRA show. She is most definitely a keeper! I've fired the better part of 1000 rounds through her since picking her up. Aside from frequently having to reload, she's much more fun to shoot than most anything in my safe. Fortunately I just ordered two more magazines so hopefully reloading will go a bit quicker... leaving me more time on the range to punch holes.

I am going to try to not shoot her quite as much in the future... otherwise I'll have to pick up a second Shield to share the burden! :D

What issues do you speak of because I have neither seen issues discussed or had issues with mine. Thinking of buying another one...

Yep.. the Shield. It's got one big, nasty, glaring issue that sticks out like sore thumb. And this issue will keep me from purchasing one.

The issue: I can't find one in 9mm.

Love it ever since April. I probably have like 700 rounds through it. Not a problem eating anything I've thrown at it so far, even Tul. Conceals great. low recoil. Dream trigger. Sexy looking. Can not find a thing that I don't like about it other than I keep wanting to buy ammo and that is getting expensive. :P

I could not agree more. I have the .40 and Smith got this gun right! I was astounded be the lack of recoil. I have owned Glock 27's that were much snappier than my Shield. Before I put it in my carry rotation I need 300 rounds thru it. The 200 I have put down the tube have been flawless. The addition of the Apex hard sear and UTB pull is about 4 lbs. These additions will help me improve accuracy. Only complaint I have was with the sights not being installed correctly but an easy fix.

My 40 shield is a delight. The reported big kick of the .40 cal didn't happen. It was reported by those who were speculating that it would be there, but hadn't shot the weapon. There have been some reported mag drop issues by a minority of 40 shield owners, but I have not experienced that. Mine has performed rock solid. If I needed it, I would not hesitate to buy another. Its body hugging conceal-ability, functional reliability and trigger are reason enough to like this pistol.

I have it in 40 and 9mm. I like them both a LOT. It is a fine carry choice.

I've had my Shield 9MM since April 18th, ABSOLUTELY A-OK so far. I put Talon Grip Panels on it and an APEX Duty/Carry Kit. Smooth like Frog Hair baby.
