Are You Happy With Your Shield

Get the .40 S&W

Yep.. the Shield. It's got one big, nasty, glaring issue that sticks out like sore thumb. And this issue will keep me from purchasing one.

The issue: I can't find one in 9mm.

I couldn't either . . . got the .40 S&W instead . . . it's great.

LOL!! I don't want to add another caliber to my inventory so I'm waiting on the .40

On the waiting list from my LGS. As soon as he gets one from Davidson's, I get my Shield. :D

I am getting ready to buy another pistol soon. I really thought that I wanted a Shield, but it seems like they have alot of small issues. So at this point I wondering how Shield owners feel about their purchase. BTW my next purchase is looking like a M&P40c

I would suggest you don't go out and buy the Shield right away.

Do what I did.

Buy a Kahr CM9. Shoot 600 rounds send the gun back 3 times in 4 months get to know all the customer service reps by first name their birthdays and favorite hobbies.

Get real frustrated every range trip.

Next buy a Beretta Nano shoot 1,334 rounds of assorted ammo because the gun FTEs every 115 grain brand.

Spend your life on the Beretta forum trying to figure out why the gun is not reliable.

Now that you have wasted 2 cases of ammo and lost a head of hair from pulling it out you are now ready to appreciate a lonely life owning a Shield because you are not going to be wishing customer service happy birthday.

I see what you did there. Lol yet another reason why the shield is awesome. Can't wait till my lgs gets one.

Well after several weeks I was finally able to get to the range & shoot my Shield, much to dismay & horror of some of my fellow posters who thought I had shot it some time ago LOL:p. I did say in several different posts that I had not got to shoot it yet, but still liked it on several other aspects anyway. So I've got a good ribbing about it :o , however it is a nice gun, put about 50 or so rounds through it, I'm happy to report it had no issues whatsoever, my wife liked it as well. So I'm happy with mine. :D
Great forum here lots of good info & we have fun along the way.

CGHelofxr,

First off, thanks for what you do; you airedales rock!

Now -- if you're still on here after all this positivity that's come your way:D -- my two cents' worth as a former Coastie brother (which means, of course, take everything I say with a grain of salt ;):

My Shield 40 is, as we used to say back in the day, "4.0" in all respects. I have probably 600 rounds downrange in the past month with zero problems -- zero. I've shot FMJ in several brands including Blazer, Federal, and Winchester, and Hornady JHP. My Shield is like the Energizer bunny with everything I feed it. I'm going to the range every week, and just love shooting it.

Reliable, good looking, great in the hands...if it was a woman, my wife would be after me with a skillet.:D

Any kidding aside, the Shield is the real deal. If you buy one and don't like it, I'll buy it from you, how's that?

I have a Springfield XD in 40 and wished the Shield 40 was out then. My Shield 9mm is fantastic, it's my favorite pistol to shoot.:)

Vigil617, my skin is to thick to have the one feeling I have hurt, I was just looking for input, looking around there seems to be several for sale and being a new product it seemed odd to have them being sold already.
BTW I should proably change my name to X-CGHelofxr

Seems like your wife may soon be happy with her own.:)
Great excuse to get another at least.

True! but shhh... ;) don't tell anybody... she really likes our Glock 19, better, but to be fair she's shot it more.

Love my Sheild 40, got true glow sights, it has replace my 340 J-frame and and LC-9 as my main carry.

I love mine. 1100.rds. very accurate. 5 mags. What's not. To like. I need night sights though

Love mine... Though still need to get more visits at the range to practice my grip & aim, POI seems a bit low on the left... Got used to to my CZ 75B :)

I have a 40 and it has quickly become my everyday favorite and I've been thru a few guns to get here. I've had a Kimber solo, a Sig p290, a Sig p238 and a Beretta Nano (which I still have). This Shield is the ulitimate in power and concealability for me. This one is a Keeper! I've put about 450 rounds thru mine with a 100 reloads with cast bullets included. This gun has been completely flawless, it has eaten everything I've fed it. As a bonus my cast bullet load groups 1/2 inch at 7 yds! Love this gun!

I have both the M&P 40c and Shield 9mm. Had an issue with the Shield (which I love as much as my 40c) in that I experience failure to fire. Sent it back to S&W and they said that they modified the Barrell (whatever that means) . Still had issue with firing that I paided close attention to. First though it might be my grip . (so I held on tight ) Now I think that I finally figured it out. My trigger finger placement at times might be too high. Therefore, the trigger safety kicks in. Pull again and "bang" , probably due to subconsciously lowering my finger on the trigger , therefor engaging it. Anyone else seen this situation ? Maybe I am the only one.

Like mine , picked up the .40 on 070812. Have shot it at the range three times for a total of 150 rounds. Very accurate, fun, and impressive package. Thanks sw
