I'll help you keep the thread going. This one was already posted in a separate thread. I got this one last Saturday along with the original box which was a 44 HE box that was overstamped 38/44 HE. It is a 1933 gun.

Am I the only one who has a non-safe queen? How about pictures of some who did not spend their lives in a dresser drawer?

Heck, Dave - go back to page 3 and look closely at mine.... they look more like drag queens than safe queens - and not only look shot- but, ARE are shot - regularly.

Regards,

Jerry

A few "non-safe queens" for Dave !

I think we often mix up "safe queens' vs. well cared for "shooters" ! I know all but two of my revolvers get shot as often as possible. Even the "pretty" ones !

Every time I see your collection, I'm surprised that there are any left for us, but I was lucky a few years ago:

I'm not sure if these are in your database or not.

PHenson,
A very nice Transition HD! From the looks of it, I'd say it is a S68000 or earlier serial number. Would you mind emailing the serial number to me for my database? AGain, a great looking HD!
Thanks,
Bill

I only have one but I'm proud to show it again.

38/44 Outdoorsman 6.5" (1951) Lettered as shipped to the DC area. I bought it in 1968 from the owner in Bethesda, MD.

Thanks to a couple members here, I finally figured out what this is, after inheriting it 20 years ago. A 1956 38/44 HD with all matching numbers. (and this look like a picture thread to me)

If anyone is interested, I have a 6 1/2" M23 (?) barrel only, blue, with what looks to me to be factory blue and slight muzzle wear. I picked it up out of Shotgun News years ago to later find out that it had been fooled with. The forcing cone area was reamed out (oversize) to a depth of about 1". I kept it around in case I might ever want to get it bored to .44 caliber; never did.

If anyone can put it to good use, it can be had for postage.

Acquired a vintage 1931 (serial #37xxx) 38/44 heavy duty about ten years ago from a friend who was liquidating his grandfather's estate guns. It was clearly carried, showing holster wear on both sides of the barrel back about 3/8th of an inch. Also some on the forward edges of the cylinder. Otherwise, it has bright blue everywhere else and the fine cut period diamond grips are near perfect.

The long action makes it fun to shoot and a pleasure to own. I never took much interest in it until joining the forum and discovering the large following of 38/44 models. While it is roughly an 80% gun (my uneducated guess), it exudes class and quality. Thanks to all for what I have learned about it here.

Bat Guano,
I would like to have that barrel. PM sent.
Thanks you.
