Hello, new guy from Anchorage, AK. (USAF ret) I've just acquired a very nice model 30-1 and am interested in learning more about some of the classic smiths from the 60's and 70's. thanks for the join!
Welcome from Tampa. Been to ANC many times. Always stayed at the Marriott downtown and ate as often as I could at Humpy'. Long ride from Tampa but always enjoyed it. Too bad I had to retire! Always like to go to the UAA campus too and also to Wild West Guns. Bought a 629 there once with the Alaska State seal on the side plate. Still one of my prize guns. It's on my no trade no sell list now!
Last time I was up there I was protecting a submarine in -70 degree weather in Seward. The thermometer didn't go any lower than -70 so it was a weeeeee bit colder.
We had to qualify with our M16's on a nice ICY range. Fun times. We were protecting the USS Alaska.
