Assault Weapons Ban of 2019

What type of firearms are best capable of maintaining a Free State or any problems resulting from a disaster that the government is unable to deal with rapidly?
These days, living where the Springs meets Parkland, any discussion about Black Guns begins with .... please tell us your definition/history of the 2nd.

I see that a lot has changed since Heller:

Scrolling through this one will find the analysis that owning and using contemporary military arms was specifically contemplated by the Founders. On the other hand it's possible that the several cases decided SINCE then have muddled the issue; I didn't try to sort them all out, they will be sorted out by SCOTUS itself in the near future (and the rifle owners will win on the issue if not on the merits of their own case).

If I were you, I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting on that "sorted out by SCOTUS in the near future" thing.

I have already written mine, and will gently remind them again a few times. However, both my Representatives are NRA members so I feel pretty good about that. In the Senate I have an NRA member as well. TN should hold firm except for wishy washy Lamar Alexander. I am sure he will side with the Dems as per usual.

What irks me is when people comment about the 94 ban. It was NOT a ban. All the dealers had to do was cut off the bayonet lug to reduce the number of evil, features, and it went right back up for sale.

I'm sure that it did reduce the number of liquor stores robbed right after the perp yelled "fix bayonet".

If the 94 law had not been enacted thousands of those rifles would have been sold. Because of the "ban". millions got sold.

I always tried to figure out how many crimes were committed with a bayonet, still can't find solid numbers. Bans and restrictions do nothing to stop criminals, but makes for good headlines, campaign speeches, and exerts control over the law abiding. We have a republic, if we can keep it. I'm thinking that history will be repeating mistakes yet again, and we will not be keeping the republic.

I edited several posts in this thread. Stay focused on the issue at hand and don't drag immigration, drug laws, general liberalism or other unrelated topics into the discussion.

From the READ this > RULES on HOW to use the 2A Forum sticky:

This is not
where you post general political discussion and comments on OTHER issues not related to the 2A. Other issues are the economy, Obamacare, general Lib bashing, tinfoil and black choppers, how to start a revolution, etc, etc.
Keep it focused on the 2A issues.
