Assault weapons ban

I have a question that maybe an attorney or maybe someone from California can answer. If for some reason the AWB passes and they are not grand-fathered in, does the government have to buy back all of your "illegal" weapons? What about the magazines and all of the parts that go with these weapons? What about the ammo that goes with these weapons?
It seems to me if you bought these weapons when they were legal, and then the government declares them illegal, then the government would have to buy back the illegal weapons. If this isthe case then this will never happen because there are millions of weapons out and tens of millions of magazines out.

It seems to me, if I remember correctly, as I was reading through the text of Feinstein's proposed legislation, there was a provision for existing weapons to be grandfathered, as well as other text about using some designated funds for confiscation payments. Now...if they are going to be grandfathered, why would they be confiscated?

Or is this one of those "we have to pass the bill to see what's in it" type deals?

I would think (I am not a lawyer) but no they are not required to buy them back they can force you to turn them in with out compensation. I would also assume if they did a buy back you most likely get penny's on the dollar if you where lucky. Think along the lines of 200-300 dollars for your rifle if that.

As far as a AWB ban with no grandfathering in it. I don't see that happening with this administration. There are far far to many people who believe in there second amendment and American's still expect a fair deal. There are also far to many American's that believe in the constitution and what it stand's for.

A bill like this where to pass then anyone and I mean anyone connected to it would be voted out of office quicker then you could say bye.

I believe this is why our Government is pushing so hard for Amnesty to illegal immigrants. This would give them another 10-20million new voter's that don't have America's attachment to the constitution thus giving them more maneuvering room on issues like AWB.

I don't think we'll see that on the federal level. They will be trying that on the state level.

I don't think the state of New York offered any compensation for banned items. They decreed that the items must be destroyed or transferred out of state.

I agree...there seem to be a few states that are coming out with their own legislation.

Not for the first time, and I'm sure not for the last, but I am very glad I live in Texas.

Rest assured that there will be buy-back programs for folks who 'voluntarily surrender' their firearms after they find out how onerous the new TAX is under Obamacare for putting your family 'at risk' in a firearms household.

Don't expect a fair price.
