Assembling a Bolt Action Rifle?

I told the OP I would post these pics of the different Lyman 48 sights and what they fit. & what to look for.
A delay of a couple days due to the picture hosting site being down, but here they are.

This is the Mauser with the correct top bar.
Notice the slight radius cut on the underside of the top bar to fit the rear recv'r ring. That will allow the bar to sit down as far as possible.

This is the same Lyman 48 sight, but for a 03 Springfield.
It has a special top bar with a step or 'dog leg' in it to jump over the riser in the rear recv'r ring. That riser is to allow passage of the bolt safety lug during operation.

This last one is a Remington Model 30S Express
The Lyman 48 on this rifle shows the wrong top bar on the gun.
This has an 03 Springfield top bar assembly with it's 'step'.
You can see how it places the sight up high over the rec'vr ring. It works OK, But the lowest setting with this bar requires a higher front sight than would be necessary than if the correct top bar was in place.
A 'Mauser' top bar would be correct for the Remington 30S-Express.
That would allow the sight to be lowered in elevation adjustment quite a lot.
But I just put a higher front sight blade in for now!
