Just came home from the Dr. was running 102º and feeling terrible! Did not know what I had but I knew it was something not good. He told me I have the good old fashioned Flu. Believe it or not I never remember having it. Well - got it now. Just gonna hang and watch some old B&W movies and be a Keyboard Commando for a few days. The Dr. started me on Tamiflu and said that should do the trick. I hope so because I feel like something the Cat dragged in!

There are several other things that you can do. Drinking plenty of fluids is very useful to ensure good hydration. Drinking hot toddies is the best. Okay, there is chicken soup, of course, but if you're not a teetotaler it's two shots of bourbon in a hot cup of tea with a tablespoonful of honey and a teaspoonful of lemon juice.

And rest.

Get well soon!

Next year get a flu shot! I always advocate for flu shots.

I got it for the first time some 15 years ago. At that time, I always rode out any illness. A couple days later I couldn’t do anything, lethargic and tough breathing. The missus took me to my doc who proclaimed “you look like death, your eyes are sunken into your head, and what where you thinking” He said another day or two and he would have hospitalized me.
He hooked me up to an IV because I was severely dehydrated. Haven’t had it since. Flu is nothing to mess with. I concur with rest and plenty of fluids, the good kind.

I just got over something...lasted about a week . I don't think it was the flu though as I had no fever but I was fatigued for 4 or 5 days along with a mild sore throat , mild cough and a mild headache .
As others above suggested I stayed in , rested , and drank plenty of water and hot tea .
Today is the first day in a week that I feel good and have my energy back.
It's certainly no fun but I work with someone who's battling cancer ....so I'm thankful and I don't complain .

That almost sounds like most people I know who have had COVID although they were vaccinated. It went through my wife's school a couple of months back.

My job use to provide flu shots so I got them. Got the flu almost every year.
I quit the flu shots and haven't had the flu since.
After the whole debacle with the Covid vaccine I have been "shy" about getting any of them. I have seen and witnessed too many side effects from the Covid vaccine! That said, we have been considering at least Shingle and Flu vac's.

My wife had the COVID a few weeks ago, so I suppose the reports about it still being around are true. I get every vaccine that is available and other than a tiny needle hole I've been pretty lucky. My knees, hips, neck, and back are a different story...
Get well soon, Chief.

Definitely get the 2 shingles shots. I had shingles before the shots came out, nasty does not even begin to tell you what it felt like.

Even if your insurance does not pay get them. Its money well spent!

Wish you a speedy recovery. Never had a flu shot or Covoid (my word) injection. My step daughter said back in 2021, i must not have much integrity for not having injections for Covoid (ouch). She's a Nurse Practioner and has had Coviod three times. Am just am what i am. If government dictates it, am

My fever has dropped a little (about 100º now) but just feel like I have been hit by a train. No energy..... Hopefully tomorow will be even better. I've got so many things to get done this month, this SUCKS! Last night I missed Sushi, Bourbon and cigars with some of the Gun Club guys - that was disappointing.

My wife is "killing me" with kindness - lol. I'm just not in the mood to chit chat. My posts here are probably going to have more typos and spelling eras than normal - NOW at least I have an excuse - lol.

Rest and recuperate, its all you can really do. I drove city bus for twenty seven years, I would have pukes coughing on me on a daily basis, it was a miracle I never caught anything worse than the flu. I started getting shots when they would issue them at the company, never got the flu afterwards. I have been inoculated against everything from The Black Plague to all of the most recent Covid shots and boosters. Never have I had any kind of reaction that was anything more than a discomfort for a couple hours, sore arm, etc. I remember guys dropping like flies over the Black Plague shot we got prior to going to Nam, no issues for me. I think your DNA might have something to do with it, they claim that if the Black Plague ever comes back many of us already have the antidote in our DNA handed down by our blood line that survived.
