The Michigan Antique Arms Collectors had their first show of 2012, starting today, and going through Sunday. Getting there early, I made a couple of tours just skimming, before getting down to business. There aren't a lot of classic Smith's to be had, and this show is still no exception. However, I came across this revolver at one of the tables. The price was right, so I brought it home.

This is my first post on the ...1896 to 1961 forum; since this is my first S&W of pre-1957 manufacture. This one is a 6.5" .357 Magnum, original stocks, and a bit of wear around the trigger guard. Standard hammer and trigger, and it had a trigger shoe mounted, and it included the box, but no screwdriver. I cleaned it up just a bit, with Mothers, and then waxed it with Johnson's Paste Wax. It's not a collector, but seems to be a nice example from the era. Enjoy.

DTB - I don't know what your definition of "collector" is but that is a Beauty - Congrats!
(It's nicer than any of my collectors :))

Dennis: That's a very nice gun and in a hard to find barrel length. Are the grips numbered to the gun?

Leo - The stocks are numbered to the gun.

VM - This example is very nice. I think that my eye is sometimes a bit too critical, as far as collecting goes. The revolver has been shot, as the cylinder shows. However, upon closer look, the trigger guard edges appear to be finished very consistently, although not as much as the other surfaces. So, I shouldn't be so critical.

McShooty - This particular show has some occasional surprises. There aren't a lot of S&W, or Colt collectors. You see a lot of Winchester, military, and a fair number of 1st and 2nd generation Colt SAA's. Occasionally, you'll see a couple of S&W-only tables, but in general, it's a real mix. Some of my best buys, though, have been at this show.

Dennis, where are their shows located? Thanks.

The shows are all at the Novi Showplace on Grand River, between Novi and Beck Roads. If you join, you get into the shows at 8:00AM, the public doesn't get in until about 8:30 or 9:00. Costs $20 annually, with free parking.

Dennis the B,

You wanna sell some of your shooters? Some of us common folks would probably faint at their condition.:D

Dad must not have heard about this one. He usually goes, and we've set up at a couple just to get in on friday.

Beautiful gun! Great picture too! I got a 28 no dash last month, and wish I could take a pic like that. 28 is real clean, but not perfect. Bob
