While visiting my local gun shop this afternoon, I was given a copy of the proposed SAFE ACT II, all law abiding New York State gun owners will be faced with if our current governor Andrew Cuomo wins re-election this November. We as law abiding gun owners here in New York have already lost a lot of our firearm freedoms from the SAFE ACT, and now face even more if governor Cuomo stays in office. I for one, don't like losing my gun rights, because criminals commit crimes with guns. We all know that no matter what laws our passed, only law abiding individuals are effected by, and obey them, while criminals continue to break the laws and commit crimes. The governor knows this (at least I hope he does) but yet continues to pursue this course of gun control. New York gun owners should be aware of what the future might bring.
And for the rest of our great country remember governor Cuomo wants to be president someday, so remember what he has done and will continue to do to us here in New York, and may do to the rest of the country someday.

I wonder how long it will be before the loony leftists in California will be trying to inflict all those restrictions on us? It doesn't really matter to me. Next year I'm going to Nevada, and hopefully I'll eventually have ocean front property in Nevada.

He may not make it past this Nov, nevermind 2016. I could give a good reason but it's political and don't need a vacation right now.

I do hope that you're correct. Even growing up here I never dreamed that we would get this bad!

This clown really does have to be replaced now. The entire legislator should be turned, too...

The polls have Cuomo a "shoe in" for re-election which is sad because if every gun owner voted against him, he would be out of a job!

His goal is to make NY the most progressive state in the union (his words). Wait 'til you see what he wants to give to illegal aliens at the taxpayer's expense.

If you are a NYer....GET OUT AND VOTE!

I will be voting for Astorino but reality is he will not come close to winning. You can trump him up all you want but Cuomo has way too many connections in this state. NYC will dictate again who is governor.

THIS, if revealed to the general public, certainly may be his undoing as it's not going to be very popular with ANYONE. Voting rights and other benefit for non-Americans.

Colorado is now a blue state thanks to Denver and Boulder. We passed a law stating that loaning a gun to another person for more than 72 hours requires paperwork.

Keep that empty legislation in the City.

Where I was from nobody cared for military style firearms but everybody hunted.

The Unsafe Acts are un-American.

Is SAFE ACT II real, or is it just fictitious political propaganda? There is no shortage of the latter, emanating from "the black helicopter crowd".

I have lived in a lot of states and I've known a lot of shooters and hunters from NY state. When I mention how can you live with these laws I always get the same answer - I have my rifle and all the ammo I need, so what do I care.

NY (and a lot of other states) get the laws they want they want because they could care less.

Unfortunately our brothers in New York suffer from the same problem we in IL do. One city owns your state government. Things have been getting better for us, but only because of the court.

Facing Reality

First, NY gun owners are not numerous enough to seriously affect the outcome of elections. Hence, we're a blue state. NYC alone has 11,000,000 people, enough to swing the entire state, and very few of these people are hunters or gun owners. Efforts to overturn the Safe Act through control of the legislature are largely a waste of time. We also have a significant minority population which tends to vote for progressive, anti-gun candidates. Our only practical hope is a successful constitutional challenge in the federal courts.

All sorts of draconian gun control proposals have been bandied about. I tried researching "Safe Act II" and found nothing that matches what the OP said. Thus, I sometimes wonder if these fear tactics, such as a tax of $300.00 per gun, are being put in circulation by pro-gun groups to get people to the voting booths.
