Hello all! I should be sleeping but since I just joined the forum I find myself wide awake thinking about revolvers  I recently bought an Aussie PD turn-in 66-7 for my wife and liked it so much that I bought a 66 no dash for myself. I noticed the forcing cone on the 66-7 is not flat on the bottom but completely round. Do other 66s have round forcing cones and does this mean they are less likely to get damaged shooting .357s? Thanks!

Are you able to post a photo of the -7 forcing cone? The cone on your 66 is typical of K frame .357s, with the flat bottom.

I bought an Aussie 66-7 (2 1/2) today. I too noticed the completely round forcing cone (no flat spot at bottom). I suspect it's something to do with the two-piece barrel. Because of the two-piece design I understand that the steel of the forcing cone is stronger and therefore can be a bit thinner -- hence no flat spot, but the whole ring appears thinner than in my one-piece K-frames (but no thinner than my model 60 in .357).

I got mine at a gun show today at a good price in surprisely good condition. I cannot wait to take it out to the range.

Hope somebody else has more knowledge on the subject.
