The wife has one of these rolling crime scenes.
The window thing is SOP any time power is disrupted.
Also, watch for oil consumption.
If you're down more than a quart and a half, you're making sludge.
That sludge will raise hell with the cam control valves. Sometimes removing them and spraying with carb cleaner works ... But not always.
The 2000 Buick Century made me a fan of Buick.
The 2011 Buick Regal made me a fan of Subaru.

And probably a good thought though the OP is in denial.
Not that I blame him. I'd dread that rabbit hole too.
Thing is with this car, it's a rebranded Opel Insignia.
What that gives you is a German chassis populated by mostly Chinese parts.
It's interesting in that the platform will support practically any drive configuration... front, rear AWD...
It's a bolt in situation. But despite it's hopes and dreams, the bean counters had more say than the engineers.
As a result, my Subaru Forester of significantly greater age routinely performs the parts runs on the behalf of the Regal.
I want to have better things to say about it.
I really do. But with each foray into it, my disgust has only grown.
