B-2 Bombers to Korea

I am aware of the existence of such an agreement. It is time to null it and start over. If S.K. has anything to offer to the U.S., fine. If not, then the U.S. needs to leave. The exact same applies to every other nation in the world. If they are able to offer meaningful resources, etc. to the U.S., fine. There is reason to have trade, defense, support agreements/treaties, etc. But in this instance, SK has nothing to offer to the U.S. Why should the U.S. do a Korean War 2.0?

There's a bigger picture than what you see in the present. "We're not going to help you because you don't have much to offer us", is pretty selfish on the world stage. Aside from just doing the right thing. If it were a war just between north and south, the north would steam roll right through the south and that'd be it. As it stands, the American troops over there along with the S. Korean troops, are merely speed-bumps. We know it and the north knows it.

To borrow a phrase from Shakespeare, "Much ado about nothing." Further, why should the U.S. become involved in such a dust-up? Neither nk or South Korea are of any significance to the U.S. If nk wants to play army, let the U.N. put on it's little blue hat and play policeman.

Didn't work so well in the 50s. What make you think today would be any better considering the regression of the collective intelligence that body has suffered over the past 50 or 60 years?

I'm not sure why we can't just bomb that forsaken place until South Korea is an island. That would end the problem there, as well as get the attention of several middle eastern countries of which we are going to shortly be pressed into dealing with also.

China. Until they get tired of their antics and stop protecting them.

On the other hand NK may think it in it's best interest to attack right now. NK attacks SK, SK defends with minor help from the US. NK asks for a cease fire in 2 weeks. US spends the next 20 years and trillions of dollars rebuilding NK.

I don't see why people are panicking about NK.. NK knows that they will be turned in ashes if 1 rocket leaves the ground.
They don't have the technology nor money to be a real threat. So why do we let them play with us?

For the record: B-2's flew "round-robin" bombing missions from Whiteman to Kosovo in 1999 and Whiteman to Libya in 2011; about 11,000 miles on each mission with about 25 hours of total flying time on each mission. Usually about 5 air-to-air refuelings depending on load and winds. The bad guys never knew they were there, even after the bombs started falling.

While PRNK does not have ICBMs that can hit with accuracy in the USA, I worry that they are getting closer (or already have) the capability to reach somewhere above CONUS. A nuclear device detonated above the atmosphere of CONUS could wreak havoc on our electronics and electrical grid. That's plain scary and doesn't require the same level of technical sophistication as a guided missile.

Our missile defense system needs significant upgrading. It has been neglected for way too many years since Reagan proposed a "star wars" system. Also our borders need to be slammed shut. A suitcase nuke is now a distinct possibility, and our borders are completely porous. The current government appears unwilling to do either of these things.

On long missions the aircrew carries a cheap regular old chaise lounge and one of them sacks out while the other flies. Its not uncommon for both to be asleep or at least napping on long flights and the aircraft on auto pilot. I know for a fact when we sent our unit to the desert, half the flight of F-16C's would sleep while cruising, and the other half would keep aware of things around them.

anyone hear the news today? Kim supposed signed a order putting rockets on standby to fire at US targets. There was also a map behind him showing targets on US soil.

Its all sabre rattling as usual. The little fat boy may be dumb but he is not as stupid as folks give him credit for. Neither are NK's Generals. They (asians) love to have their pics taken, so they are masters at posing, and thats about all their doing is posing for their publicity and when it gets to the "red line" as obama puts it, they will back off in return for the USA giving them lots of food and $$$$ and in all reality they won.

IMHO North Korea is more vulnerable to a decapitation strike than Iraq ever was in 1990. It's having the correct intel that makes it difficult.

Fact: the world is and has always been a dangerous place. Like some of the street corners I used to hang at, you don't want to be a bully or talk trash. But you want everybody to understand you are not to be mucked with and can back it up. Unfortunately we have social engineers trying to get everyone on the corner to behave. It don't work like that. That's why Kim dip half pint is getting "froggy." A "tune up" (y'all argue what that is) would work wonders on his "attitude." Joe

Yeah! Isn't this situation, and similar, why we developed the neutron bomb?
