One of the things my wife enjoys at our Development's Club House is playing Bingo once a month. She has been trying to get me to play for 2 years now, but I always gracefully begged off. Last night I caved. :o

I went and there were 60 players in the room. To my surprise there were about 12 men included in that number. I've not played Bingo since I was about 10 and had to do a 2 minute brush up course as the way they play now is a bit different. Not only do they play straight Bingo games, but they also have special ones that are more difficult. The lady and husband team running the game were fantastic, funny and enthusiastic (actually one of my neighbor's) and the 3 hour session (with a 20 minute break in the middle ) went pretty fast!

I won a door prize (Belgian Chocolates) from a raffle ticket we bought, but the woman next to us won $250! All in all I had a good time and my wife bought me my own personal Dauber - lol. She liked the fact that I went more that I did, so I guess I am relegated for next months game. Hmmm, maybe I can find a Bourbon & Cigar Club that meets the same night - just kidding, I did have a little fun! :D

Who knows, maybe next time i will win. :D

My mother was an ardent Bingo player at the local Catholic Church halls in Chicago. A lot of times door prizes such as fans, toasters, pot and pans were the prizes to avoid gambling for money prizes which was illegal.

Of course, some halls did have money prizes. CPD station houses provided security and would tip off the operators if outside investigators were snooping around. The protective officers were in plain clothes.

I love Bingo because I get to enjoy a snort of bourbon and a nice little Hemingway Short story every Wednesday evening as my darling wife still brings her 95 yr. Old mother to B I N G O .
