Just received an email that Cabel@s has just shipped me 2100 rounds of 22lr. I ordered it 12/12. I guess perseverance pays off after all.

I'm in the same position. I ordered 40 rounds (two boxes) of Federal Premium .45 cal 230 grain JHP Hydra Shoks from Cabelas about the same time in December (2013) when they were allowing backorders and providing free shipping. Original ETA from Cabelas was December 30th, which has now been extended to January 30th.

Guess I'd better wait until the UPS truck actually arrives before I can be sure that my order was filled??!!

Well 22lr around here is hit or miss, mostly miss. I've been able to pick up maybe 400 rounds between Raleigh and Charlotte in the last six months, stopping at different Walmarts, Bass Pro, LGSs etc. The message is much like fishing on a pier.......well they were here yesterday!

Cabellas Backorder

Curious what kind of ammo you just got from Cabellas back order. I have had Federal bulk pack on back order with them since Jan 2013.

Maybe there is hope !

I ordered a 1400 rnd bucket of rimfire from Midway on 12/2/13, email says it "should" ship in June. (!)

Man-O-man ... a year to 6 mos for bulk ammo to ship.

Why would any new shooter even consider buying a 22 rifle?

I was at a LGS 2 weeks ago, he had bricks priced at $60.

Today, they were re-priced to $69.

The prices may still be heading north!

My brother-in-law owns a small gun shop north of Baltimore.

When he can get 22lr from a supplier (which is rarely) it costs him enough that he's been forced to sell his for those kind of prices also.

Last stock he had was Aguila 22 LR's which sold out at $70 a brick.

Ammo prices are NOT headed down.

And people wonder why the hoarders continue to hoard.

Probably because they for see the prices on the incline also.

I found a good source for bricks and they are decently priced but still about $10 more than I would like to pay? However, I might buy one in Feb, just to add to my tiny stash.

I also received a 2100 LR order from Cabelas (ordered in Dec 2012) yesterday... you could have knocked me over with a feather !!!

Very nice surprise...

Sweet, maybe my Brownells back order will come in soon... I think it's been about a year, so far. They sent me an email a month ago to confirm that I still wanted the back order, and stating that they would honor the price. I like Brownells, I just hope my stuff comes through before I die of old age! If I remember correctly, I should be getting around 4 or 5k rounds.

I've got plenty on hand, but like to keep my supply at a level that I can ride out these types of shortages.
