Bad habits/Expensive hobbies

If you do not list guns, find another forum, so that goes without saying. I will admit to many vice's... watches, fly rods, wine, Hermes ties, Allan Edmonds shoes (I need to dress for work), 20th century American prints, but by far the most extreme is the lake house. While it provides much joy to everyone in the family, the cost of the second home has overshadowed (and greatly limited) all other bad habits.

Expensive hobbies are guns, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and custom trucks. Bad habit is smoking. Smokes aren't expensive where I live, so no desire to quit.

Guns.
Boats (offshore sailboat racing, deep sea fishing, marsh fishing-freshwater fishing-driving around the marsh just chillin') Currently down to just two boars after Katrina but at one time had 5.
Next up is a trawler and plan to do the loop cruise in about 3 years.

Expensive hobbies: Guns, Harleys, guitars, '69 camaro work in progress.
Bad habits: Raiding my meager retirement income financing the above "necessities."

Sounds like a plan.Nice.

My weakness' are Fishing shooting and old school hotrods.

I only wish I had a HotRod.I do have a 24stud Flathead but I don't think it would do justice in my '04 GMC.

Anybody want to donate a '32 frame?

Books. Thank God for Amazon...Built and paid for two houses, put two kids through college with cash. Also supported 2-5 horses for about 25 years and helped the boy get a bunch of ratings up through multiengine and CFII. Those expensive hobbies are now handed over to my girl (she took over the horse activities) and my son who flies his own 1954 Tri-Pacer when he isn't medevacing people in a King Air.

I've been collecting, shooting, and working on neat guns that appeal to me since forever, and although sometimes cash was scarce, I've had a good time and pretty well gotten everything I could want. The wife has a Toyota Spyder that is a hoot in the mountains; I slip in the "Master and Commander" CD, put the top down, and off we go at a high rate of speed.

The boy and I occasionally scheme about how we might finagle a Cessna 180 one of these days. I'm sure that would soak up any spare money lying around!

Work and the hobby blur...saxophone, etc. That gets pricy. cannng and cooking could get expensive if I let it, but at lease I sell some of that on the side to offset the expense.

Not that I have a lot of bad habits. I drink some. Not a lot, but what I do like is VERY expensive. I sneak a smoke now and then.

I guess it would be this.

And photography

Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket

Firearms, wine, grandkids (just expensive), baseball (travel to every major league park), coins (accumulator, not collector).

Really pretty mild when I think about it.

Airplanes

My only other hobby is airplanes, but I can argue that that's a vocation instead of a hobby. I just bought a place with a hangar and 2700' grass strip, and I'm an A&P, so hopefully I can get this flying addiction down to mostly just the cost of fuel and insurance. I'm into homebuilts, and a Pietenpol is on my short list of wants, and they can be had for under $10K these days. Hope it works out like I think it should!

Cars, cars, cars....mostly British. I often quip that if I had a 20 bay garage, I'd have 21 cars. The only thing keeping me out of the poor house is the size of our garage;)

I spent most of my fortune on wine, wimmin and song.....the rest I jest wasted....

In no particular order....

Cars...from old BMW's to 1960's muscle cars and Corvettes. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars on dozens of cars these past sixty years. So happy to have finally kicked THAT addiction.

The car hobby led to the desire to own a good array of Snap-On and MAC tools. Still have the tools. I REALLY enjoy having the right tool for the job.

Motorcycles. Have had several from the HD Cruisers, to dirt bikes , BMW's and a Ducatti Monster. Still have one Duc and two BMW's. Also toss in the myriad of clothing, bike luggage, GPS, etc involved.

Watches. Rolex, Omega, Fortis , etc. Down to three or four good ones.

Accurate rifles and truly well done hunting rifles. A whole other addiction as well as the optics that go on them.

Trap and skeet shooting. I've had three or four bad trapshooting addictions and a single SC/skeet issue in my life. Resulting in multiple shotgun purchases, loaders, ammo etc. Still have a single Ljutic, and a skeet set K-80. As well as a Spolar loader on my bench.

Quality optics. Own a few Leica, Swarovski and Zeiss bino's and spotting scopes. All of my rifles have Leupold optics.

Cameras. Been a photography nut for years. Untalented but I can appreciate the gear. Have a few old Nikon F's including my original from 1971. Will probably own a Hasselbad sometime soon.

Quality 1911's. Wilson, Ed Brown, etc.

Quality leather. El Paso Saddlery, Milt Sparks, etc. Have multiples for any and all of my pistols/revolvers. Toss in my custom set of Langlitz bike leathers too.

Bullet casting moulds. I have dozens. In my defense I DO use all of them. Simply can NOT sell them. STAR sizer and dies.

AR's/AK's and all the related Tacticool gear; supressors, Aimpoints, cases, dozens of mags, lots of ammo, etc.

Good Cigars. Have a nice collection residing in a 25-30 box capacity Staebell humidor in the gun room.
